Two days ago, we noticed DCat had a small hard lump on his cheek. He’s been fighting with a neighbourhood cat, so we thought he might be starting an abscess. Yesterday evening, it had grown to the size and texture of a baked bean. He seemed fine and untroubled when we touched it, so we planned to take him to the vets on Monday. This morning, the bump had gone but we found a small hard bean on the living room floor. We dissected it on the chopping board and it was full of thick dark blood with bristles on the end. DCat happily frisking around outside as if nothing remarkable has happened. I’m not sure why we didn’t have the presence of mind to photo the bean in its whole state, but here it is dissected.
