I am on top of the world!

About a week ago a cyst on my scalp started expelling its content and god love him DH dutifully squoze it over the coming days. DH thought it was over but I KNEW there was more in there and suspected DH didn’t get the sac.

Anyway I was just fiddling with the scab, as you do, and got DH to have a little look. He trotted up to get the tweezers as he could see something wanted out, quickly burned them on the gas job and after a few tries pulled out the sac!!! So relieved!! Now I want my other ones doing 😄

I had another one do the same about 10 years ago and it’s so satisfying. I don’t want to wait another 10 for my next one to be gone, but it’s like £500 per cyst or something to get them removed!

Yeah all the places I’ve looked at have been hundreds per cyst. Soooo not gonna happen hygienically and professionally - home removal for me 😄

Kind of creeped me out that it came out so clean. And why is it Yin Yang shape ☯️

I'm sure MN could probably whip up a roving band of enthusiastic have a go heroes who travel up and down the land answering the call of women whose DHs are too ineffectual to deal with this kind of thing. I'm happy to cover South London, for example.

@TrombonesAreNotBones yes I get that, I’m not stupid! I still don’t understand why there are multiple people with multiple cysts though and I was asking if this is a specific medical condition?

I'm guessing it's this:

A pilar cyst, sometimes called epidermoid cysts, occurs when a hair follicle gets clogged. They can happen anywhere on your body but are most common the scalp. Pilar cysts can be irritating, but are usually not dangerous to your health.

I have about 7 hidden pea sized ones under my hair. One randomly popped out like the OPs about 5 years ago. Not had the pleasure since :( haha

Ooh I tell a lie I can only find 4 at the moment! They do come and go. Most of time they don't bother me but they can get itchy which is when I go prodding about up there.

No it was a small wound which has now healed already and gone all flat as you would expect a scalp to be. Can’t even feel where it was actually!

I have three massive ones on my scalp. How do you all do this amateur removal?? GP won’t refer me as they’re stubbornly not oozing or sore. I’ve never even had the slightest hint from one that it might pop but I’d love to be rid of them.

Have you fiddled with/squeezed one of them to try and agitate it? Probably not recommended!

Yes, I mess with them all the time and they never yield anything at all 😭

That’s so sad 😢 mine just sort of swell a bit generally on their own without intervention, then get a bit angry and then it happens. Given I have had 2 go in 10 years it’s not a great success rate. I am soooooo tempted to get DH to cut into them, you can see diagrams of how they do it online (basically cut out an ellipse shape 🤢) but really don’t want to get a blood infection and die 😄
