Gross nail - permanent damage?

So I had a cuticle infection which I managed to get rid of with antibiotics, but was left with a weirdo painful granuloma on the nail itself. GP partially burned it off with silver nitrate and over half the nail fell off with it. I'm left with a very tender and warped nail bed :( I'm terrified the nail matrix has been damaged from the infection and silver nitrate and I'll be left with no nail ever again.

Has anyone any experience with something similar - I know it will take a long time to come back, but so scared this is permanent damage. Is there anything I can do?

No experience but I guess it'll need to grow for a bit to see what happens and go from there ? If it toughens up you might be able to get an acrylic on it

I have had this. The answer is very simple. Paint regularly with clear nail varnish. That is all that is required. Just keep painting it as it forms a barrier, and it will grow back fine. Continue until mail is completely recovered to the tip.

Weirdly enough me, my son and my daughter have all had infected nails recently. My children needed antibiotics. My son's toenail was similar to yours and has healed up, the nail seems to be growing out. My daughter's fingernail fell off today but looks like there is still nail at the base.
My toenail is still healing and the actual nail is loose! Hoping it doesn't fall off. Am going to get my daughter to the dr tomorrow just to check as the finger is very red.
