So I’ve left this months. Obvs an ingrown hair on my inner thigh. Yes I’m hairy yes I shave. This lump has been around sooo long. Today typically not looked at it for ages and got off the loo and looked on the toilet seat and there was blood. I looked down and a big black scab with a hair attached and goo ooozing out. I’ve been left with this , it’s a big lump under my skin, this crater. What do I do next??

Squeeze it ?. (Misses the point !)

ItsACrater · 16/12/2022 19:49

It’s a bit hot and angry and nothing much else wants to come out. Do I need anti b?

Needle into it and then shove some antiseptic cream on it?

MintJulia · 16/12/2022 19:54

I'd soak in a hot bath, massage it with an antiseptic wash, then dress it with cotton wool and gauze and go to bed. See how it is in the morning.

ItsACrater · 16/12/2022 19:54

Can’t needle it I’d pass out!
I’ve put antiseptic cream on it and a plaster 🩸

If nothing's coming out now and you're sure there's no other hairs in there I'd leave it alone. Just give it a wipe (hot salty water or alcohol wipe), plaster on and let it heal. It doesn't look like it needs abx but keep an eye on it for any redness tracking away from the wound. X

I had something exactly like this a few months ago! Wouldn't heal, kept scanning over then bursting again.
Sent a pic to the GP, he prescribed Fucidin cream, which is a antibiotic cream. It went away within a week.

Lindy2 · 16/12/2022 20:07

Antiseptic cream and a plaster over the top. It does look sore though.

I used to have similar ingrowing hair issues and rashes from shaving as I have dark hair and pale skin. I got a home IPL laser device the results were fantastic and I've not had an ingrowing hair or rash since.

Yeah this is what I had for some infected eczema.

Draw a like around it, if it gets bigger or hotter or isn’t healing by Monday ask for this.

You want to act fast enough to avoid oral antibiotics if you can.

Reindear · 16/12/2022 20:09

Have you tried squeezing it? Looks like there’s still stuff in there. I wouldn’t go to the drs just yet with that, I would see how it goes. Put some antiseptic on it

ItsACrater · 16/12/2022 20:10

DH thinks I’ve got some flesh eating bug and says I can’t leave it

Is there a hair you can grab with tweezers and slowly pull out?

Bobbybobbins · 16/12/2022 20:26

Might be worth a visit to the chemist

EileenAdler · 16/12/2022 20:27

Seek medical advice.
