Huge lump of earwax

My daughter has a ginormous lump of earwax - honestly looks like a maggot in her ear. I can’t get it out and she’s in a lot of pain, tried olive oil but any tips here? Promise a pic if it comes out in a lump!

You need to get her to the dr and get some antibiotics. Call 111

Thanks for the advice, I had no idea it needed to be seen/needed antibiotics. The NHS website just says it will heal in a few days but I took her to a pharmacist who said it definitely needs treatment. She and DH are at the walk in clinic waiting to be seen, hopefully won’t be too much longer

Ear infection can be indescribably painful and make you feel awful. I am partly deaf in one ear as a result of an infection years ago.

My daughter had a lot of problems with this. She had problems with hearing at one point and the Dr said her ears were full of wax. We used the drops but then she ended up having an ear infection similar to what you are showing there. Dr said her eardrum looked awful. She had 2 lots of anti bx in the end and several return visits to the Dr to check healing as it took a while. Was fine in the end though.

This is interesting. My daughter had earache. Dr couldn't see ear drum because of wax so we got some olive oil drops. Seemed to be doing something but she was feeling worse. Went back to dr, turned out to be tonsillitis! She's a lot better in herself after antibiotics, but is complaining of earache again and asked for more drops. Have out some I. Tonight and will see what happens. Have a feeling it may need professional clearing out.
