Pilar cysts. Have I got a chance of NHS removal?

I’ve got so many on my scalp (at least six) but three are really big and I’m so self-conscious of them when I get my hair cut, especially when they wash it. I reckon they’re about acorn sized. I don’t think they show through my hair as it’s long, but I’m desperate to get rid of them. Google tells me the NHS doesn’t routinely remove them but I can’t afford to go private. Can I argue extreme hairdresser embarrassment as grounds for requesting removal?!

They might just tell you its cosmetic. Maybe ham it up and tell them they are very painful rather than just being inconvenient/embarassing

Surely, they get scraped and bleed when you try brushing your hair and cause pain? I would think this would indeed be the case and the way I'd describe it to the GP. Maybe they get snagged on things, maybe you can't fit a hat on, maybe you NEED to wear a certain hat for health and safety at work??? No idea, but if they are indeed causing pain and discomfort for everyday life, then you might have a case for it to be done on NHS- even if just the larger ones.

Or sign up to that embarrasing bodies or skin clinic TV shows

Or, you need to start saving and get them sorted

I had mine removed on the NHS as I kept catching it when brushing my hair and it was sore.
