Nose piercing granuloma

Didn't know if here, or the health section would be best for posting this but has anyone had one of these and if so, how long did it take to disappear.

I got my nose pierced about a month ago but last Wednesday I knocked the piercing when I was washing my face and have now ended up with what I'm guessing us a granuloma. It doesn't hurt and there's no pus so dont think infected. It's just a bit unsightly!

I'm cleaning it with saline solution wipes but to be honest every time I do, I feel it ends up looking worse and when I leave it alone and it kind of dries up, it looks better. I'm reading conflicting info online.

I'm planning on calling my piercer but just wanted to see what you guys thought were?

I had to take mine out
call your piercer

cliffdiver · 12/09/2022 19:50

Mine did this.

I Googled it at the time, and it was part of the normal healing process.

It went away within 1-2 weeks.

HumptyNumpty76 · 12/09/2022 19:50

I did exactly the same! It took 6 months for mine to heal completely. The lump has completely gone. I cleaned mine with tcp at least once a day.

astridforty · 12/09/2022 19:53

Back away from harsh cleaners. Consult your piercer ASAP, mine would recommend stericlens spray or similar product.

Plump82 · 12/09/2022 19:55

It's so bloody annoying as I was thinking it was all going well with the healing. I'll leave it for a couple weeks and see how I get on. Glad I work from home!
@HumptyNumpty76 did you dilute the tcp?
@cliffdiver did you just leave yours alone?

Leave it alone. Don’t touch it or put harsh cleaners on it.
Get yourself a can of neilmed piercing aftercare spray and just spray it onto the area once or twice a day.

The saline wipes I'm using are exactly the same as the Stericlens spray but each time I clean it, it bleeds which reading up on granulomas is a thing.

Hey!

i got those on most of my piercings (including nose)

we need to get half a aspirin tablet
crush it and add the tiniest drop of water to create a thick paste. (The drop is to be barely anything)

put the paste on the nose (once cleaned)
sleep with it and repeat nightly until gone.

also

prontolind piercing spray from Amazon is a god send!

:)

will deffo help!

Plump82 · 12/09/2022 20:01

Thinking about it, a spray is probably better than the wipes so I'm not actually having to touch it.

I started used the saline spray again.

PPPPressure · 13/09/2022 07:09

Get some pro pierce oil from Amazon.
Use the oil 30mins before washing with saline 2x a day, then leave a little of the oil on overnight until it goes down

HumptyNumpty76 · 13/09/2022 17:47

I didn't dilute the tcp. Just used a cotton wool pad to apply it to the area. I held it there for a few seconds, no wiping. It eventually disappeared.

Plump82 · 13/09/2022 18:58

Lots of suggestions. Thanks everyone.

I got one on the top of my ear because I sleep on it and then fiddled with it because I just can’t not. I just started gently cleaning it again with BPA Piercing Aftercare which is what I was given when I got it done (bought some from Amazon) and it cleared up quite quickly once I resolutely stopped knocking it about. Not sure if that’s any help but hope it might be!

I think I might be aggravating it in my sleep. For the first 10 days I slept with a plaster over it. I've noticed in tbe mornings it's been bleeding overnight so I'm going to start putting a plaster over it again.

What jewellery do you have in it?

Plump82 · 14/09/2022 20:17

It's a corkscrew stud.

OP posts:
Mol1628 · 14/09/2022 20:19

You might find a flat back labret stud better. Make sure it’s high grade titanium too.

Harpydragon · 14/09/2022 21:38

I'm another tcp user. I just used it neat on a cotton bud twice a day wiped round the hole inside and out. Tried saline solution but the tcp cleared it up when all else failed.

It did take 6 months for my piercing to heal properly, I was getting properly fed up with it and then one day it just came right!

Plump82 · 14/09/2022 21:39

I'll consider that once it's healed up. Wouldn't fancy either the piercer or me trying to change it with the way it is just now.
I eventually want a hoop but reckon that's a long way off.

I bought Recuren Plus after care spray. Reviews are all very good. It arrived lunch time today so I've used it twice and feel it's calmed it down a lot already. And it's bled at all so hopefully fingers crossed it does the trick .

@Plump82 just came across this thread and I'm in the same position as you with a nose piercing... I'm wondering if anything eventually helped clear it up?

Hi, I used Recuren Plus piercing aftercare and it cleared everything up within a week. It was fantastic. I kept using it for a while after just to ensure nothing came back.
