Obligatory photo included! Dd is 13 and complained about her toe the other day. I've looked and it looks awful. Dh thinks it will be fine if left alone. I'm not so sure.
I'm in work tonight but I've told her to bathe it this evening in warm salted water.
I've also got some antibiotic cream I bought on holiday so I've told her to gently apply some. I'd love to squeeze it but I don't think she will let me.
She's avoided cutting her nail because it hurts. 🙈

Thank you. I'll try and persuade her that a bit of pain now is worth the alternative!

I've had ingrown for 28 years and I can say with confidence that if it hasn't gone away after a few weeks and it is oozing pus, it may require removal of the nail spike that is probably embedded in the flesh of the toe just above the nail matrix. I've had them low like that before and if I'm right, the corner of the nail won't be the primary issue. Your poor daughter! It really is a struggle when they don't cut their own nails or allow any help.

Yes I think it's infected. May I suggest TCP neat on a cotton wool pad quite saturated, put around the bad side of the top with a little micropore tape.Don't put the tape on to the toe just the pad to hold it so it doesn'tcome off.
I think she needs Antibiotics, and needs to see a Podiatrist.
Poor girl it must hurt.

Long soak in warm salt water twice a day ,get it nice and clean and then apply some TCP.
