I have a boil on my labia majora right where my knicker line goes and it's absolute agony!

How can I make it go away?! Currently got a warm flannel on - is this better than cold?!

Any other amazing home remedies?!

Get yourself to Sporners Corner, they will sort you out.

obviousNCer · 18/04/2022 18:19

Magnesium sulphate if you have any. Warm bath. Bit of tea tree oil might work.

Sunshineandrainbow · 18/04/2022 18:25

Magnesium sulphate will draw it out. Put paste on and cover with plaster

Theunamedcat · 18/04/2022 18:29

Hot flannel not warm is it in a place where you can put a plaster? The magnesium sulphate paste is fab but not without a plaster

obviousNCer · 18/04/2022 18:40

Amazing THANKS @Pegasussnail @Sunshineandrainbow @Theunamedcat where do I get magnesium sulphate from? Boots? Amazon?

Yep. Standard stock in any chemist. Good luck.

TinaYouFatLard · 18/04/2022 18:42

Hot as you can stand bath will sort the bugger out.

obviousNCer · 18/04/2022 18:53

Thank you all! Hot bath tonight and then get some magnesium sulphate paste tomorrow.

I googled it and all it pretty much said was 'don't squeeze it, it should go within a few weeks'...I can't have this for a few weeks - its agony and I'm walking like bloody John Wayne!

Ouch! It will be better (hopefully) by tomorrow. I squeeze to ease pain but you don't want an infection so maybe don't

Mykittensmittens · 18/04/2022 19:13

I have HS which is a nasty issue that results in many boils.

The previous advice is spot on. Mag sulph, hot bath etc.

However if the pain is there even with walking, then a TINY spot of ibuprofen gel on the offending boil will ease the pain and inflammation. Do not get this on your labia minora, just the outside part is okay, and not if it’s ruptured. Tiniest blob (like a pea). Really will help you sleep if it’s uncomfy.

And goes without saying go commando for a few days with loose fitting trousers or PJ bottoms.

My sympathies!

Any sign of anything infected, temperature, etc then seek medical advice.

Giveronyoursausage · 18/04/2022 19:19

Have you tried vicks vapour rub? I get boils due to hs and this is my go to product the menthol helps to ease the pain and draw it out. I put a big blob on then cover it with a dressing.

obviousNCer · 18/04/2022 20:09

God you have my every sympathy @Mykittensmittens this is my first one! I'm pregnant so ibuprofen is off the cards (although have a couple of pharmacist friends so I may ask them about the gel). Changed into loose PJs obv commando when I got home earlier and it's so much better - have to be at a work event in London on Thursday though so will have to wear real clothes!

I have Vicks vapour rub somewhere @Giveronyoursausage so will dig it out for after my bath!

I find sudocrem really soothing

Sunshinegirl82 · 18/04/2022 23:06

As you're pregnant and so a bit immune compromised I'd probably call the GP in the morning as it might warrant some antibiotics. In the meantime hot, salty water will definitely help and sudocrem is a good stand in for mag sulph if you don't have any in.

If you get a temp or feel poorly then I'd call 111 tonight. I hope you feel better soon!

Harpydragon · 20/04/2022 20:23

I have just had a boil on my inner thigh. Magnesium sulphate made it rupture and the relief was immense! Bastard thing is still leaking a week later but no more pain!

shas19 · 28/04/2022 22:33

I had an abcess 7cm long when 20 weeks pregnant, ended up in hospital. Call gp just incase
