Ingrown hair? Boil? Pubic area

Ok so obviously I have name changed because this is embarrassing! I felt a little bump on or rather under my mons pubis last week like a pea. On Tuesday it came to the surface and was about the size of a 5p. Sore and purple sort of colour. Today it is more like the size of £1 with a ring of redness around it. It doesn't have a poppable head and I can't get a good squeeze at it anyway. It feels like most of the infection is at the surface now though rather than under the skin? Will this just go away if I leave it?

Sorry about the pictures. I know it's really gross. Also hard to get scale but I had to crop it closely so I wasn't showing the world my vulva Blush

It's probably an ingrown hair. Are you able to put some drawing ointment or tea tree oil on it to bring it out?

BoodleBug51 · 07/01/2022 20:46

It looks like a boil. I'd see if you can sit with a really hot flannel on it, see if that encourages it to burst.

And Sudocrem helps draw them out too.

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/01/2022 20:47

You should ask in Sporner Corner.

They're weird but knowledgeable.

Rebeccasmoonnecklace · 07/01/2022 20:47

Have you tried a warm flannel applied to the area? That could help.

TooWicked · 07/01/2022 20:48

Oooh I'd get some magnesium sulphate paste on that to draw it out.

GoingItAloneAgain · 07/01/2022 20:53

I had something that looks identical to that in the same general area. Turned out to be an abscess and it needed draining at hospital. I was told not to shave down there as it can be the cause. Hair removing cream is better.

You could try a hot bath to see if you can draw any pus up and see if you can squeeze it out. It probably would be better to see your gp in case antibiotics are needed.

Sporners Corner is the place for this!

I'd do hot compresses (hot as you can stand without burning yourself) and magnesium sulphate (if you have any, sudocrem if not) with a plaster overnight and see what it's like in the morning.

Thanks I've asked for it to be moved!
SmellyOldOwls · 07/01/2022 21:08

I don't have magnesium sulphate, might have tea tree, definitely have sudocrem though. I will give the hot flannel and sudocrem a go!

SmellyOldOwls · 07/01/2022 21:15

Oh name change fail hah. Hopefully no one I know in real life sees my horrible pubic boil Blush

olympicsrock · 07/01/2022 21:16

Warm compress , might burst. If not get a needle , boil and then let cool and dip in vodka to clean bugs off , puncture the most prominent point. then try to pull out the hair from the central follicle.

I feel this is the most succinct description of me I've ever come across...

HermioneWeasley · 12/01/2022 21:05

OP, how is it? Hot flannel helped draw it out at all
