Scalp cyst removal, London?

Sorry, no photos, and apologies if this is the wrong forum - I've become aware of an unwelcome growth on my scalp, have been slowly going getting it looked at by the NHS [early indications - it looks harmless], but things are moving at a snail's pace & given that it's neither huge nor infected there's little to no prospect that they'll get rid of it, which I'd quite like just out of vanity.

I don't have private medical insurance so will need to pay out of my own pocket. I don't suppose anyone has any positive experiences/ecommendations of somewhere reputable & non-extortionate? I made a few enquiries just based on the first page of google search results & got a couple of really vague, potentially very expensive responses.

There's a program on TV (the bad skin clinic) that's filmed at One Welbeck in London. It's maybe a dermatologist you need if you have a pilar cyst

Look up Dr Khaled Sadek

Say it's causing you pain. That should accelerate things.

yeah, his place appears at the top of google results. his basic price for a cyst is not too bad but then it'd be £200 if the thing turns out to be a 'lipoma', £100 or so for biopsy, more for stitches, etc.

how I left it with the NHS was that I'd have an ultrasound scan, which would both identify the lesion for definite & give a fair degree of comfort on it possibly being cancerous. but I've heard nothing back from them in over a month, and in the current climate it feels like it could be far longer.

fortunately or unfortunately it isn't. i was scared to lie in case it risked misdiagnosis.

Phone up your local private hospital and they'll advise who to see. Am initial consultation will be £200ish. And then fees on top for removal but they'll tell you what they are. You might need a doctors referral but as soon as you say it's for private they'll do it. If you want an nhs one they start putting you off!

Pilar cyst is most commonly found on the scalp rather than a lipoma.

Yeah, I suppose I thought that.

Slight concern on my part that I wouldn't necessarily know the difference between a cyst & lipoma. This is part of the reason why I half want to wait for the NHS to do scan.

I wouldn't want to find myself in a a position where I had to negotiate on price with a guy whose scalpel was already in my head - I'd feel that I had a weak hand in such circumstances.
