Hi please forgive me I don't normally post here, but I am just so uncomfortable and wondered if anyone else has experience of cysts in armpit. I went to the doctor the other week with a sore lump in my arm, hurt to raise my arm was like a sharp pinching pain when I did, was told it was cysts and was given a weeks course of antibiotics which i finished a few days ago.

Today it is back again with the pinchy pain and from what I can see its pushed through the skin and really hurts, my eyes water if I have to lift it to brush hair etc, anything that involves lifting the arm in any way.

Doctors are shut till tommorow when I will call again but in the mean time I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of things to relieve it?

Photo (taken by DP) attached. Best we can get.

Today it is back wi

As an fyi, hidradenitis suppurativa can just occur in the armpit, it does not need to occur on the groin too.

I think given this is reoccurring and one round of antibiotics hasn't resolved, you need to head back to your GP for further investigation.

Whatever you do, do not try to pop. Also be careful using heat/product as this may inflame or irritate further if it's not a simple boil or cyst. I would strongly recommend not to try any at home treatment until you speak with the GP.

@YellowMonday unfortunately it popped by itself. Not sure what that means but wasn't intentionally squeezing, it just spontaneously errupted.

My sister had one of these that has to be removed surgically and packed, I think they reoccurred for a number of months until she eventually had the procedure done. Ouch!

Another one who had similar and it was hydradenitis (can never bloody spell it).

I would say - don’t panic. I read a lot online when I got it and was convinced it would be a nightmare.

I seem to have it sorted by washing with hibiscrub and a course of laser hair removal.

@CherryHug ouch. Make sure to really look after the skin now, gently wash the area and dress it with a sterile bandage.

For the next few days, continue to gently wash the area and apply a fresh bandage two times a day or whenever pus leaks through.

Once it is fully drained, clean and bandage the area daily until it’s healed.

If it reoccurs again, off to the GP. Hopefully worst case it simple needs to be lanced correctly.
