Pubic cyst that won’t die

It started with an ingrown hair on the point of my pubic bone about 10 years ago. After 18 months of savage itching and frequent pus explosions, it dried up of its own accord.

7 years later, guess who’s back? In exactly the same place, but a slow burner this time. No amount of digging around with tweezers and needles yielded the offending ingrower so I wonder whether it might be a phantom ingrown hair in memory of the original. It’s less itchy, and suppurates with less ferocity than last time, and is very occasionally and briefly painful.

Over the last 3 years I’ve seen a gp who prescribed antibiotics that didn’t work, but wasn’t very worried about it (though she agreed it had been in my life long enough that it was reasonable to want it gone). I’ve also had two BIG courses of antibiotics following a caesarean, and subsequent complications from infected c section scar 4 months later. The monster retreated in the face of such a sustained antibiotic assault. 6 weeks after my last antibiotic, the fucker is back.

What’s going on?
Am I going to die if I just ignore it and accept that occasionally I will have to crumble dried crumbs of pus out of my pubes?
Will it go away on its own or will it accompany me, gently supurating, to my grave?

It doesn’t particularly bother me. Pain, inconvenience and embarrassment is a 1/10. I’d rather it wasn’t there but as long as it doesn’t grow I think the two of us can coexist amicably enough.

What would you do?

Sorry, no photos. It is hidden under a thicket of pubes. I have never seen it, due to this and its location.

Since my last post I have:

  1. thought about doing a hot flannel compress on a non-bath night, then thought, ‘fuck it I’ll deal with it tomorrow’
  2. sprayed Alfa silver into it
  3. not had any explosions of pus
  4. been slightly itchy, and investigated with my fingers. Concerned by amount of hardened scar tissue, size of affected area, and direction of itch (labia-bound). Pus-cave seems to be getting deeper. I think it is tunnel-shaped
  5. wished I hadn’t lost the diagram I drew for a friend a few years ago, because I think you lot would appreciate it, but I can’t recreate it
  6. wondered whether my posts are outing

Poor show OP, poor show!

Sheffie83 · 15/09/2021 07:29

Please write a book! You're hilarious Grin

Mamamamasaurus · 15/09/2021 10:21

Holy shit. You fit right in here OP. I'm just hanging around now, waiting for a picture or photo.

I have the same problem. When it decides to reappear it is inconvenient to say the least and excruciating at worst. Last time it appeared I was in so much pain in the middle of the night I actually considered A&E but pandemic etc.

I made a poultice. Baking soda and water paste, bandage and white tape and basically strapped myself up, put on a pair of DH's boxers for security and back to bed. In the morning it was burst, it bled for a few days, I just didn't wear any knickers when at home for about a week to give it a chance to stay dry and washed it a few times a day with a clean flannel. That was a few month ago, it hasn't come back, doesn't mean it wont be the relief that night was within 45 mins and was so good.

Your waxing story made me laugh so hard. I have a similar one, I thought waxing was a thing I was meant to do so bought hot wax. I put on the wax, which was way too hot anyway, then when I tried to pull it off it was a mess of hot wax and pubic hair that was still fucking attached. I tried to stay calm and asked my boyfriend to help. I don't know why I thought he could sort it out. So he was trying to pull it off in a fell swoop, while I am resisting and despairing. It was all too much for him. He was panicking which in turn was fuelling my dismay. I think I kicked him out the bedroom and resorted to washing and picking the stuff off. Honestly it's best done by professionals.

Op you should write an Amazon review for your hot wax product Grin

Try shaving it ever so gently with a razor, so that at least you can see properly what you're dealing with, and thinks like heat and mag sulph can get to it without being obstructed by hair.

Hekatestorch · 15/09/2021 17:08

I would get either tend skin or the nip and fab glycolic over night pads

I get these in grown hairs. One recent cause a huge puss filled spot. I rubbed the spot with a nip and fab pad after I got out of the shower every day. Took about 2 weeks, but the hair worked its way out and its just healing up.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

Poor show OP, poor show!
I am, but it’s not about the pus-cave. I just write about the pus-cave because it’s easier than writing the book.

There comes a point when the tables turn and the writing of book becomes easier than the thought of holding a flannel against my crotch for 2 fucking minutes, so I procrastinate from the boil by writing the book. It’s now over 200 pages long.

@eeek88
Will the book be dedicated to the cyst?

eeek88 · 15/09/2021 23:20

[quote FelicityBeedle]@eeek88

Maybe. By the time the book is finished as in finished-finished, the cyst will probably have evolved into a sentient being.

@eeek88
Oh so a Co-Author then…

Wauden · 17/12/2021 15:23

OP, is The Thing your muse?

By the way, I had a cyst in my left labia years ago, and the whole area swelled up so that I could not sit down due to the pain. Years later, a little Thing came out!

Heathofhares · 17/12/2021 15:30

if in doubt - purple spray!

Bonheurdupasse · 17/12/2021 15:56

I am the opposite to you.
I cleared all, then went to the GP office who got the head GP (who could also perform minor surgery) who performed the minor surgery to extirpate it.
It was very awkward but much less fuss.

FreezerBird · 17/12/2021 16:04

Many of the farmers I know seem to use purple spray as an absolute cure-all for maladies both animal and human. Please tell us how you get on of you use it.

minipie · 17/12/2021 22:35

I have no ideas about how to exorcise your pubic friend OP but please do link to your book when it’s finished.
