I've had this wart/mole/grim thing on my forehead for years. It's got bigger in the last 10 years. It catches on hats and makes me never want not to have a fringe.
It's dead centre of my forehead and sticks out more irl.
I've tried to tie it with cotton but there's no real stem. I've picked and poked but nothing comes out.
Any advice or tips?. I don't want to waste a doctors appointment on it, especially if there's a home remedy I can use.
Google isn't much use as I'm not really sure what it is.
I've posted in here but will ask to move if anyone thinks it'll be better elsewhere.
Thank you 😊

No magic home remedy is going to magic it away -having said that, I once burnt something non sinister off that the dr said they wouldn’t remove, but I did have it checked out first at least.
I used cuplex. It took loads of applications and hurt like hell but now my annoying thing is no longer there and I just have the faintest mark. You do need to get your thing checked out though. I have a DH who has had loads of growths removed that have been skin cancer, bcc’s & scc’s.

I have no idea what it is, though I’d guess at a lipoma, but it’s definitely worth visiting a doctor! Are you in the UK? Or would you have to pay?

SendARavenToRiverRun · 14/04/2021 19:44

Please don't say its anything sinister?! I'm UK. Just seems a vanity to go to the docs over it. I wear a hat for work and it's rubbing lately aswell :(
Thank you.

@silverglasshare. I thought a lipoma was more under the skin?. This is like a wart/flat skin tag kind of thing.

TBH I'd grab it with tweezers and slice it off with a scalpel, but I'm a hard-core sporner with a very high pain threshold.

Ivy48 · 14/04/2021 19:50

See the gp first before you go slicing it off and leaving a scar etc and also for piece of mind. It could be anything, could even come back if not treated correctly

Youdontknowwhatyouronabout · 14/04/2021 19:50

It’s not vanity to get something checked out. Chances are it’s perfect fine, I wrote my post before your picture had loaded, I didn’t mean to alarm you saying about DH’s lumps, I was just trying to say it is important to get them checked out so the dr can either reassure you or arrange for removal.

thenightsky · 14/04/2021 19:52

Ooh. Now that looks like a wart I had sticking out of my eyebrow for a couple of years. I rubbed Ibuprofen gel into it twice a day, morning and night, and it dropped off in about 4 weeks.

thenightsky · 14/04/2021 19:53

A dermatology nurse told me that trick.

GlamGiraffe · 14/04/2021 19:56

If you tell the gp its appeared and is gonstantly getting rubbed by your etc work hat snd the skjn on it us irritated there is a chance they may gave a gp that does minor surgery at the practice. Dont cut it off yourself as it could get infected or scar badly. You need to know what it is before you start interfering with it too. Im not clear from your picture how big it actually is.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 14/04/2021 19:59

Far too scared to slice it off! You are definitely hard-core!.
I'm just a worrier. It's been so slow growing I assumed it wasn't anything too awful.
The link to the product used is out of stock. Lots of similar on amazon but they all specify not on your face. Should I brave it anyway?.
I've got brufen cream somewhere. I'll start with that.
It takes a lot to get me to the doctors ( mild health anxiety but I am a massive worrier).
Thanks guys!

Could be a skin tag or a cyst or a lipoma. Won't really know unless you see a medical professional

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/04/2021 19:59

I had a moley thing (I accept they are different) and the doctor arranged for the 'Ice Nurse' to freeze it off.
I must admit I was expected something a bit more dranatic than the practise nurse with an aerosol spray...

SendARavenToRiverRun · 14/04/2021 20:10

I can cope with the 'ice nurse' and an aerosol!
It's approx 5mm. Not massive but big enough when I look in the mirror.
Think it'll be a doctor job.

I’m interested in hearing more about this Ibuprofen gel remedy. Is it for warts do you think?

MixedUpFiles · 15/04/2021 04:34

It’s probably just a skin tag. It’s got a thick base though and prominent placement, so I wouldn’t recommend diy removal.

If I catch skin tags when they are babies with thin stems I remove with tiny sharp scissors. They rarely even bleed.
