DS has had these warts / verrucas between 2 toes for a couple of years. We've tried everything at home but nothing is shifting them and although he says they don't hurt, I think they're still growing Confused

Time for a podiatrist as don't imagine the GP will do anything ??

A friend of mine tried everything to get rid of his, what finally worked was acupuncture!

Flamingolingo · 19/12/2020 23:00

My DC1 was plagued with them for months and we eventually had some success with duct tape. But I take the point above about immune systems because his verrucas finally succumbed when his tonsils came out and I’ve always wondered whether there was a relationship between the verrucas and the chronic tonsillitis

Bunnybigears · 19/12/2020 23:04

Nail varnish worked here as well, slathered on every night then once a week peeled off taking some of the verruca with it.

justanotherneighinparadise · 19/12/2020 23:06

Bazuka worked for us but you have to keep going and keep going and keep going and keep going until the core/root comes out. It took ages with my son’s but I got the fucker.

Karcheer · 19/12/2020 23:06

I had female verrucas on my feet when I was a child and had them lasered away. I’ve still got scars on the bottom of my feet. The biggest site had over 200 verrucas (the Dr stopped counting after that 🧐)
I remember my teacher had to change the dressing at lunchtimes.

Enough4me · 19/12/2020 23:07

I found suffocating and grinding away with a pumice stone every single day did it in about a month-6 weeks, hurt but I don't have patience and wanted it out.

SusieSusieSoo · 19/12/2020 23:29

Nothing really worked on mine but then it just went away. Chiropodist said it would probably just go by itself which it did but in the meantime I had to keep filing it down with an Emery board or pumice stone as it hurt so much if I didn't x

What are female verrucas?
Crazythursday · 20/12/2020 08:48

Interesting, might try the nail vanish thing too.

DC has a few on one foot. Mainly on the ball of her feet, in a small cluster, then one on the bottom of her big toe.

Other DC has a giant wart on finger. I think we need it burnt off tbh.

Hate these gross kid things....

doradoo · 20/12/2020 08:55

My DC's warts were defeated by a homeopathic remedy - Thuja C30.

I was super sceptical but it worked on both verrucae and other warts - DD had about 30 over her hands — all gone now!

Karcheer · 20/12/2020 09:39

@Achristmaspudsskidu the ones that keep on breeding... the males are single verrucas - according to my chiropodist in the early 90s.

I had three sites, over 200+, 18, and 1 single (male) one.

Wow, I never knew that! I googled and could find no mention of it!

Karcheer · 20/12/2020 10:12

@Achristmaspudsskidu I've just googled and it looks like it's rubbish apparently they are asexual - another lie from my childhood haha!!!

makingitupaswegoon · 20/12/2020 10:18

GPs won't do anything about warts or verrucas. Just been to podiatrist with DS re his. Only treatment on offer is Swift which they won't do on children under a certain age.

I had a stubborn verruca for 5 years. i tried everything and nothing worked apart. I left it and just pared it down and the surrounding hard skin every week with a corn knife. Eventually it went.

madcatladyforever · 20/12/2020 10:25

I am a podiatrist and I wouldn't really treat warts or verrucae in a very sensitive area like that on a child with acid, freezing or bazooka.
They are annoying but they will eventually go.
I'd give them a double whammy of nail varnish followed by some kind of tape, gaffa tape possibly too harsh for delicate toes try fabric plasters that are on a roll with no cotton wool on them.
make sure this is done every single day, it will get rid of them but you must be persistent.

DodgeRainClouds · 20/12/2020 10:32

Clear nail varnish. I covered my sons group of verrucas with it and kept reapplying daily. After about a week the centres turned black then fell out! Left a few holes in his foot but they healed up literally instantly.

makingitupaswegoon · 20/12/2020 12:37

@madcatladyforever
Interesting our podiatrist recommended bazouka but said duct tape would make things worse as makes the skin all moist underneath. What is nail varnish meant to do and how is covering your verruca with these chemicals less harmful than bazooka?

chaosisaladder · 20/12/2020 12:44

For DD (6) after her nightly bath, I would file the verruca down and paint it with dark nail polish. Every single night. After months of every other treatment making them bigger (wtf?), this worked within 2 weeks. The SATISFACTION!

Crazythursday · 20/12/2020 14:05

Will nail varnish work with warts on a finger?

SexNamesRFab · 20/12/2020 22:11

I don't see why not @Crazythursday but I used the wartner freezer thing on DDs finger successfully. I think because the skin on your hands is more sensitive it does more damage (which kick starts your immunity to get rid of it).

I'm going to try the nail varnish now , I have done literally everything else.

SexNamesRFab · 20/12/2020 22:16

If that doesn't work then I'm v tempted to get the HPV vaccine (which apparently Superdrug offers to adults up to age 45 for 350-500£)

loveislouderthanwar · 21/12/2020 10:48

Vics Vapour rub works as well-pop it on before he puts his socks on. He may need to wear socks to bed.

My husband is a podiatrist and he recommends that.

Aethelthryth · 21/12/2020 10:51

Soak cotton wool in apple cider vinegar and bandage to verrucas every night. Really works

Lexilooo · 21/12/2020 12:38

I had them for years on the balls of my feet, tried everything, including bazooka, wartner, salicylic acid, filing them down, taping them and having them frozen off by the GP (they were painful). Nothing worked but eventually they started to disappear on their own. I can't put my finger on what changed to start my body tackling them.

Tryingtogetitright · 21/12/2020 12:44

Try zinc supplements - podiatrist recommended them for my son's verruca and we did those and zinc oxide tape and it went within 6 weeks or so. Good luck!
