DS has had these warts / verrucas between 2 toes for a couple of years. We've tried everything at home but nothing is shifting them and although he says they don't hurt, I think they're still growing Confused

Time for a podiatrist as don't imagine the GP will do anything ??

Ouch.

I had a huge one that I got rid of with duct tape but you have to be absolutely relentless with it. New tape on every day, after every shower. Don't let it breathe for a minute. It took ages but it went!

devuskums · 18/12/2020 23:34

Daughter has had one for a couple of years. We have been soaking, filing and duct taping for a few days now. It started off with 1 black spot now it has 5! Not sure if this is good or bad.

mildlymiffed · 18/12/2020 23:36

If they don't shift for a long time then please go and see your GP. Not wanting to be alarmist, (and it is rare) but it can be a sign that your immune system isn't firing on all cylinders if your body doesn't naturally fight them.

TheOnlyAletheia · 18/12/2020 23:39

Ds had these mosaic verrucas all over his big toe. We used a scholl pen but I think the trick is to keep pulling the dead skin off - everyday and reapplying the treatment- don’t let them start to regrow. We were both really excited when we pulled the root of the largest verruca out as he’d named it “big Bertha “ 😂

caringcarer · 18/12/2020 23:40

My sister had hers cut out at GP surgery but pre Covid.

FuckOffBorisYouTwat · 18/12/2020 23:42

Having had years of hell MN came to our rescue with the suggestion of nail varnish. Keep applying and suffocate them.

TheClitterati · 18/12/2020 23:42

Strong CBD oil killed off Dds stubborn verucas.

Littlemilkjug · 18/12/2020 23:47

Remembering my childhood, I do wonder why I had access to a surgical scalpel, but I had a cluster of very stubborn verrucas for a while. After a bath or shower, I used to use the scalpel to shave away as much of the dead white skin as I could. I would literally gouge out my foot.... then I reached the black dots and steadily cut those out, then one day it was all done, no more dots, and my skin grew back normal. So in terms of effectiveness and satisfaction I'd totally recommend that method, but it's prob not wise to stab around with surgical scalpels like that...

jazzandh · 18/12/2020 23:48

I had a foot covered with them years ago and the GP prescribed me a formaldehyde solution, that I soaked my foot in and then pumiced/scraped the dead skin. It was the easiest and quickest treatment.

Possibly there is a current version of this available.

tiredandgrumpy · 18/12/2020 23:55

GPS don't treat them any more. We took ds to a podiatrist, who said that once they had got established (like these) then they needed far more aggressive treatment. We cleared them eventually - a painful, messy process, but well worth it.

However, my dd had a large one which we were about to treat when she had her hpv jab at school - disappeared straight away! The viruses are related, so quite possibly the immunity she developed following her jab enabled her body to fight the verrucas too.

DrFoxtrot · 19/12/2020 00:00

I had mosaic warts and couldn't shift them with any treatments. They did eventually go, almost overnight, after about three years.

DrFoxtrot · 19/12/2020 00:01

I should clarify, they eventually went on their own.

Gruffalosgrandma · 19/12/2020 00:08

Have a look at
treatverruca.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7-Xd-97Y7QIVVoFQBh1XrgR-EAAYASAAEgJtTPD_BwE
It's not cheap but the success rate is high. I thought it hadn't had any effect on mine so didn't go for the last treatment but after 3 or 4 months they all disappeared . Worth every penny .

BluebellsGreenbells · 19/12/2020 00:12

I’ve brought this from an online chemist

Seems to be working, but it has to be daily

Nail varnish painted every night on DD’s veruccas got rid of them after about a week-it was amazing. They just fell out, leaving these great craters behind!!

notapizzaeater · 19/12/2020 00:20

Wartner was the only thing that worked on ds feet

toocold54 · 19/12/2020 00:28

Genuine question but do people use a certain type of nail varnish/colour - do you have to use clear polish? Would coloured irritate it?

SexNamesRFab · 19/12/2020 00:33

I've been battling the same one for about 5 yrs. I even did swift, hurt like HELL and cost a fortune but didn't work. I'm trying Ariella at the moment.

user1471478181 · 19/12/2020 00:37

My sister had for years tried everything. Went on her first holiday abroad without our parents, after she came back they all disappeared. They think it was the sun and sea water

Madeupwithit · 19/12/2020 00:43

The Scholl pen was the only thing that worked for my DS. We tried EVERYTHING!

I was so surprised it worked. Couldn't believe it. Magical stuff.

Lurkingforawhile · 19/12/2020 12:37

I'd recommend a podiatrist - they are very efficient and you don't want to be messing around with feet too much!

Scholl pen was the only thing that worked for me too. After 8 years of trying to get rid of it!

It took about 2 months and 3 pens in the end.

I found s chiropodist that had the Swift machine and a refusal to be beaten. Swift is meant to work in three treatments - I had 10! But it worked. And luckily for me, because the chiropodist took my verruca's refusal to die as a personal slight, he didn't charge me more than the initial £300 (which was a bloody good job as I didn't have the money for any more!)

I think clear is fundamentally different. It’s more of a glue.
