HELP - what is this lesion? (Pic included)

Name change as it's a pic of my bum cheek.

Not painful unless I catch it when wiping, just got DH to have a look and to my horror it's this. Does it look like an ulcer? Why would I get an ulcer on my bum cheek?

LovingLola · 26/07/2020 20:08

Could it be from an insect bite?
How long have you had it?

SodaSodaBanana · 26/07/2020 20:12

That looks nasty (not bum cheek, just the lesion). Could be from lots of things, disinfect, cover and go to the drs - or send them the picture.

WorriedSick2020 · 26/07/2020 20:23

I've only noticed it since yesterday but I'm thinking it must have been there longer to have eroded like that. Didn't notice anything before like an itch or a bite. Yeah I'll go to the GP tomorrow.

Has anyone ever seen an ulcer? Does it look like one?

WorriedSick2020 · 26/07/2020 20:24

I've put sudocrem on it but haven't got anything to cover it with

OP posts:
Niknakpaddywhack · 26/07/2020 20:27

Could it be a pilonoidal sinus?

WorriedSick2020 · 26/07/2020 20:31

That did come up on google but it said they only really occur at the top of the buttocks where they join

OP posts:
Niknakpaddywhack · 26/07/2020 20:34

Ah- I know a couple of people who have had them and so know a little bit about them but not had one myself.
Best idea to get your GP to check it out- hope it’s easily sorted 🤞🏻

WorriedSick2020 · 26/07/2020 20:38

Thanks @Niknakpaddywhack

Ask for this to get moved to Sporner's corner. They'll know!

WorriedSick2020 · 26/07/2020 20:54

Oh good idea @morethanmeetstheeye

Ask for this to get moved to Sporner's corner. They'll know!
Moving it now Smile
WildCherryBlossom · 26/07/2020 21:27

Do you wax or epilate? Could it be an ingrown hair gone bad? Sudocrem seems like a sensible place to start and send the pic to the GP tomorrow.

WorriedSick2020 · 26/07/2020 21:35

No don't do anything like that @WildCherryBlossom

OP posts:
HistoriaTrixie · 26/07/2020 21:48

Where specifically on the cheek is it? Like, on the outer cheek or right near the business end?

morethanmeetstheeye · 26/07/2020 21:53

I suspected an ingrown too

WorriedSick2020 · 27/07/2020 06:59

@HistoriaTrixie it's inbetween my cheeks so like I have to pull them apart to see it (sorry tmi!)

Is there a lump under it? Does it leak? It could be a cyst in the process of emptying. I'd prod it for further information, and see if it changes over a day or two (so you can decide if it's getting worse/staying same/getting better).
Then contact GP.

WorriedSick2020 · 27/07/2020 09:29

Don't think there's a lump, only thing I've seen come out is blood. It's in an awkward place so I can't actually see it myself. Got a GP ringing me this morning

OP posts:
WorriedSick2020 · 27/07/2020 12:09

Seen the doctor, she didn't really know what it was so I've had 2 nurses have a look too (so embarrassing) anyway they've taken a swab and dressed it with iodine and I have to have it checked twice this week with the nurse, also got Flucloxacillin. If it isn't getting better then it's a hospital trip as it could be a fistula 😭😭

They also want me to have a blood test for diabetes. Today can fuck off

Thanks everyone for your replies

Eek, well done for braving the doctors and wishing you a speedy recovery.

justilou1 · 27/07/2020 12:24

Would I be right in assuming you have a fairly sedentary lifestyle, or this area is under a lot of pressure? This looks deep and actually reasonably serious. I think it’s a pressure sore, OP. You need to consult a wound care nurse before it turns into something a LOT worse.

WorriedSick2020 · 27/07/2020 12:37

See my last post @justilou1

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/07/2020 12:37

I was going to ask if you were overweight OP? I’ve been doing a lot of research about metabolic disease and diabetes and obviously sores and skin problems can go hand in hand with that.

Fingers crossed you can sort it out quickly 🤞

picklemewalnuts · 27/07/2020 13:15

Oh dear! I'm glad you're getting proper care, OP.

justilou1 · 27/07/2020 14:05

Very pleased you are getting it seen to and getting all appropriate health care checks @WorriedSick2020! Covid has taken precedence over other health concerns at the moment and this lesion needs to be checked ASAP. I am pleased your doctor is taking this seriously.
