We're having a fun lockdown removing DD's ear wax.
In the pics, before it was completely blocked.
We used otex ear drops, and a special ear syringe - after 2 days it finally moved!

What's the ear syringe?

slipperywhensparticus · 30/04/2020 13:42

Why is it black?

It was dark brown because it had been there for ages!

@slipperywhensparticus

Why is it black?
Although, as the OP said, it was dark brown because it had been there so long, earwax can be black or grey. 'wet' or 'dry' earwax is thing and dry earwax tends to be grey or black and crumbly and there is a gene that codes for the type of earwax you have! www.discovermagazine.com/the-sciences/wet-or-dry-ear-wax

This is mine also using the Otex syringe.

I dont want to spol the sporny party but I don't think it is advisable to use this type of product especially on a child.

I have never smelt BO on myself or my clothes. No one close to me has either. I was surprised to learn a few years ago that a lack of BO and dry earwax are related. I'm the only one in my family that has these.
SucculentCandle · 07/07/2020 04:30

Bugger. That was supposed to quote Bluebiddy's post.

Twirlytwoo · 07/07/2020 05:09

I also have dry ear wax and never use deodorant as I don't seem to get BO. Daughter has wet earwax so it's a novelty for me to clean her ears!

mantlepiece · 07/07/2020 05:21

Yes, I have the dry earwax and have never used a deodorant.
Didn’t know why until recently, facinating!

mathanxiety · 07/07/2020 05:23

The product is perfectly safe for everyone over age 6, Vivienmary.

Wax is a natural cleaning substance in the ear. Agree with pp ear syringing can be dangerous especially for the young.
