DH Ear wax....with pictures..

Now I love a good sporn but this even made me gag.

DH has had a blocked ear for months it has made him feel dizzy and sick, so olive oil for 2 weeks then he had an appointment next week for syringing.

Last night he came home with a big syringe and said I could have a go at it...

Four swils later and this slug looking monster came out it is on a big bubble bath lid....(was the first thing to hand)

He says he feels like he has a whole new head

How's his other ear

Ohhh oh my DS was referred to audiology a few months ago after failing his hearing tests at school, said there was a big blockage to keep doing olive oil each night then go back in a few weeks for removal... there was SO much! the doctor said it was the most he'd removed from a child... preens I will find the pics and put them up!

The blue was the first lump then the next 2 came out. DS said he felt no different after having it all removed I also loved that no-one batted an eyelid when I asked if I could take pictures... to show DH... and anyone who I saw for weeks after

Oh wow that’s seriously hot! I get incredibly jealous of people who have loads of earwax. My mum often boasts about. She has appointments to have them cleared out every year because the buildup makes her deaf.

So home syringing works? I have blocked ears but obviously can’t get in for syringing at the moment

I once got a really long bit out with a cotton bud (know I shouldn't).

DS2 is 8 and has the darkest earwax ever, so much so that you can see it if you're anywhere near him, so I do clean his ears regularly. It's so soft though. And takes a day or 2 to get in the same state again.

I'm hearing impaired myself and work with hearing impaired children. Please, please just use appropriate oil to soften wax and don't do anything else to remove it! You can easily damage your eardrum and potentially the bones behind it (attached to it). They are so delicate, pushing water in incorrectly or putting cotton buds in can easily damage them. If the ossicles (the three small bones) get damaged you will almost certainly need a hearing aid to compensate for the conductive loss.

I appreciate how it is after wax is cleared, though! I get a lot of wax and when my ears are clear my hearing aids are so much louder! But just a gentle plea to be careful if you choose to take matters into your own hands!
