No pus but infected bite (including pics)

I have a bite that has become infected. I have added pics as the infection progressed.

It is very sore. Hurts most of the time. I've had a week of antibiotics and it has improved a lot but is still an open sore that weeps.

Goodness!

What bit you??

(Sorry no advice, but that looks nasty!)

uggmum · 28/08/2019 23:14

I was bitten in Cape Verde. Probably a mosquito.

It looks improved today but is still very sore. Feels like someone is constantly jabbing it with needles.

Shit, I’m in Cape Verde!!!

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/08/2019 01:57

I want to go. What's it like. Full of sporners and biting insects clearly

flumpybear · 31/08/2019 02:33

I'd get some medical advice for that - I was snap bitten badly in CV - not that badly though!

Hoppinggreen · 31/08/2019 14:03

Up until last night I would have said it was lovely but I looked down to see a venomous centipede wrapped around my wrist ( really wish I was making that up)!
Other than that I highly recommend it here !

justasking111 · 31/08/2019 14:13

go back to GP.

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/08/2019 15:02

Thanks @Hoppinggreen

Cape Verde was very near the top of the wish list. It may move a few spots down after this thread!

Hoppinggreen · 31/08/2019 20:04

To be fair it didn’t actually bite me, and I’ve just seen very cute baby turtles hatch so I would recommend it here

Fairylea · 31/08/2019 20:06

I think you need to seek further medical advice for that. It’s very red and still looks infected.

uggmum · 01/09/2019 08:47

I have finished my antibiotics. I had a 10 day course. Also had iodine dressings to put on it.

It is looking much better. No longer weeping and no more pus. It is a round crater though and still sore.

Cape Verde was lovely though. I would recommend Riu Palace on Sal. Can't fault the hotel and facilities.
It is however, a very poor country. If you do go please take gifts for the local children. Pencils/pens/note pads etc. There is a local guide on the beach called Edgar. He will pass them on to the local shanty town.
Also any toiletries/suncream are also in short supply. So if you have any leftover then you can leave them in your room for the staff.
