Lump between thigh and vulva

After some advice from the experts it’s right in the crease - first cropped up last Wednesday and I noticed it as it was a bit sore. I tried to squeeze it in the bath but nothing happened. Now it’s not as sore and hasn’t came to a head.

I think it’s getting smaller - do they go away without bursting?

A photo will help estimate the status of your spot.

grumblina · 22/01/2019 17:19

There’s not much to see, just looks a bit red and it’s practically on my bits so you absolutely don’t want to see that Grin

Probably a swollen gland or lymph node. Have you just had a cold/virus or something of the sort? You should have it seen by your GP to make sure it's nothing else, but if it's a swollen gland it will likely just go away on its own.
Sorry, I know how painful they can be.

grumblina · 22/01/2019 17:22

I’ve had flu but had this a couple days before I felt poorly

grumblina · 22/01/2019 17:23

Although it’s more UNDER than near where any lymph nodes are

SofiaAmes · 22/01/2019 17:26

That's not unusual for the swollen gland to start before you notice the flu. I am not a medical professional, but I'm guess that's what it is. You must get it check out though by your GP.

If its like a small marble and really deep (not like a nice juicy spot) then it may be a varicose vein?

Spunds vile but i get them occasionally - sometimes a bit infected and pus-y not pussy but could be that

grumblina · 22/01/2019 17:34

Il keep an eye for a couple days then make an app

Bartholin cyst?

grumblina · 22/01/2019 17:36

I’ve googled which I don’t usually do as I have horrendous health anxiety. Closest I can find is a blocked gland

OP posts:
Orchidflower1 · 22/01/2019 17:37

Cyst?

grumblina · 22/01/2019 17:42

Yeah it feels quite far under the skin - it isn’t on my actual vulva it’s on the skin between my vulva and thigh near the perinium. I am overweight and I get these quite often

Two of my best ever spots were there. One turned out to be an ingrown hair. It was painful to walk and i stood over the bath and pierced it and it just dripped and dripped pus.
One i sat on the bathroom floor and pierced it and squeezed it and it shot about half a metre across the floor

SpinneyHill · 22/01/2019 17:58

Another vote for Bartholin cyst or ingrown hairs they can go mad in that area.

Tartanwallpaper · 22/01/2019 18:02

Put a very hot flannel on it and if there's any puss it will rise to the surface

grumblina · 22/01/2019 18:08

Ingrown hair is a possibility. I’m ashamed to admit I tried to pierce it but it was just watery and hasn’t gone down - I may have irritated it and made it worse

A family member had similar on the crease of her leg, it turned out to be an abscess that ended up going several inches deep and required an operation to clean it out followed by packing for several months to heal from the inside out. Started looking like a spot that wouldn't drain. If it becomes hot, more swollen or painful to move your leg go to the GP.

grumblina · 22/01/2019 19:14

I’ve put a load of germaline on and covered it with a dressing so I will leave it alone, poking and prodding it is making it sore 😩

OP posts:
CaptainBrickbeard · 26/01/2019 18:54

I have one - not sore at all, just a smooth kind of lump. Today another one has come up on my neck, but that one is really sore. I’m thinking they may both be swollen lymph nodes given the locations and not sure how to tell? The neck one is so painful, the groin one not at all.

lolaflores · 26/01/2019 19:33

Hi OP how is it going? Hope it's improved without too much pain

grumblina · 28/01/2019 11:25

Hi thanks for asking. I went to gp and it’s folliculitis. It’s got smaller but been given co-amoxyclav and a prescription for topical antibiotics to apply when they flare up

If it has no head then hot flannels as hot as you can tolerate put on it regularly through the day will help it come to the surface if it’s going to. Also use mag sulfate paste to draw it to the surface - slap it on and cover with a plaster overnight.
If you begin to feel generally unwell or it becomes much bigger, swollen, hot and redness spreads from the area, you should see your GP as it may well need antibiotics or to be drained

hypochondriact · 16/12/2023 00:25

just wondering if you ever found out what this was or if it disappeared on its own? i’m very much in the same situation with the same look in the same place, mines has begun to get painful with underwear rubbing against it at times and is generally becoming a problem as it’s been here for a bit now and i really am starting to worry!

Anyaiwhus · 23/03/2024 15:40

I have a similar one in the same place between my labia majora ( middle part) and my thigh. I tried to compress it but it didn't come out and the area started to hurt after the compression. I dont know what to do. Should i be worried?
