I stepped on a spiky sort of fruit/but that had fallen from a tree, now I have lots of spiky things in the sole of my foot and it hurts!! Not been very lucky with tweezers. Tried very hot bath. What else can I do?

Needle? Ouch though - I've done it to my hands with a very fine spiked rose. Had to get them out over a few days.

You could try putting sellotape on them then peeling off carefully?

HappyGowerGirl · 21/07/2018 01:03

I will try sellotape tonight but I think they are in too deep for that now😭 a few days I squeezed and loads of pus came out but no splinters😭 Is But I can feel hard little bits in there😭

You need magnesium sulphate. No idea how it works but you get it in a wee tub from the chemist. Spread it on. It does something magic. (I think it draws the splinter out somehow). Splinters disappear with no need for gauging. A wee tub lasts for years!

I've had success with the following techniques for stubbon splinters.

  • smother the whole area in germaline and put a plaster over it for 24 hours. It makes the skin very damp and splinters can work their own way out of the very sift skin.
  • For more stubbon ones I've used a dab of bazuka verruca treatment on them and treated them just like verrucas. The ointment takes off the top layer of skin so that you can get to the splinter.
Having said that the pus sounds rather worrying to me because you may have an infection. I think a trip the the pharmasist or gp might be a good idea to get it checked.
