My DS6 has had a random spot on his chin for the last few weeks that just won't go away. It'll burst and then just fill right back up again. Does this mean it's something else altogether? It's not warm to touch.

Anyone?

When it bursts what does the stuff which comes out look like?

AnnaMagnani · 26/04/2018 19:07

It's a spot but what's striking to me is that he's a 6-yr-old with spots and blackheads. You can see another spot on his top lip.

He shouldn't have acne at that age and I'd take him to the GP.

LassoOfTruth · 26/04/2018 19:12

It's possibly a small cyst (not at all anything to worry about but annoying because it won't go away). I'd take him to the GP for a referral to a dermatologist.

pigtotwig · 26/04/2018 20:13

I'm not sure what the stuff inside looks like as it must be bursting in his sleep or if he's rubbed it accidentally himself. He won't let me anywhere near it!
I see what you mean about the spot on his top lip but I've not actually noticed any other spots/blackheads in real life - the photo must have highlighted other blemishes. I'll take a proper look in the morning

If he's 6 and had blackhead and spots, he needs to see a GP.

GetTaeBed · 26/04/2018 20:24

Is it not just freckles op and one sore spot?!

pigtotwig · 26/04/2018 20:28

Well yes my concern is the spot that won't go away, I hadn't even noticed any blackheads until posting this picture! He is very freckly so could possibly be some of those too

OP posts:
strongerthan · 26/04/2018 20:29

Surely that's freckles!

Justmuddlingalong · 26/04/2018 20:30

Definitely blackheads in the crease of his chin.

DragonsAndCakes · 26/04/2018 20:30

The ones on his chin look like blackheads.

DragonsAndCakes · 26/04/2018 20:30

X post.

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 26/04/2018 20:31

That looks like it has something in it! I would try a warm flannel then a gentle squeeze.

pigtotwig · 26/04/2018 20:32

Well now I'm starting to panic... could there be something serious going on??

I don’t think it’s fair on him to just leave it. I agree with having a go to squeeze it and then maybe try pharmacist and then gp.
I also do think it looks like there’s something in it.

pigtotwig · 27/04/2018 10:31

Just to update, the doctor said it's impetigo so we have some antibiotic cream. The photo definitely shows the pores up to look like more blackheads than there actually are. IRL there are a couple which the doctor said are nothing to worry about. I asked about face washes to use etc and she said stick with just water

OP posts:
DragonsAndCakes · 27/04/2018 10:36

Oh that sounds like it’ll clear up quickly then. Smile

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 27/04/2018 10:50

Super. That's a good result. Glad you go it sorted.
