Love the enormous lumps. Make my mouth water!

Hate the technique. If they cut across the band across the middle they might have extracted it as a solid lump. I don't think you can know you've got it all out by breaking it up like that. And it must be very uncomfortable to spend that long digging for the patient.

The extracted bits sitting in the external ear make my ears itch!

@littleorange I basically felt the same - I wanted them to cut across the skin and yank it all out, but nope. Unless they numbed the ear first, I can imagine it was very uncomfortable!

First time I watched it I got very annoyed with the technique with my extensive 'I've watched a lot of blackhead videos dermatology qualifications

Then actually I realised it was lots better than Sandra Lee - because with a DPOW it's so crusty, the only way to get it out without breaking off into tiny little fragments is to get right underneath the bugger. So the comedone extractor just takes off bits off the top

This widened the hole to get underneath - although obvs what it NEEDED to do was make the hole much bigger and flick the bastard out

A curette would have done the trick nicely to scoop it out no I haven't given this way too much thought and don't ever give a little sigh when they use the right tool for the job

@bananafish81 hahaaa. Frankly it's a disgrace I don't have blackheads like this to practice on. I guess you can't put on a dating advert: "ideally massive untouched blackheads"

@littleorange tbh it's a really good job that DH has really clear skin, because he won't let me touch any spots he does get selfish bastard- so if he did have a face full of blackheads and wouldn't let me have a go, I think that would be grounds for divorce!!

Oh little orange I agree. In a sane world all dating sites would include blackhead and pimple status and level of access prenuptials. To think there are lonely people out there who will never know that their bulging neglected blackheads could bring them the partner of their dreams.

I'm glad they didn't cut it. I can't bear Dr pp and her bloody scalpel, where's the skill in that? This slow approach is much better, though when she finally used the second hole to give better access I may have said 'at last'
