Had my fourth toe toenail taken off. None of my friends want to see it so sharing here

It’s a large amount of tissue considering it’s a little toe. There was lots of fungus in there too.

Too much fungus and trauma on it. Plus the nail had attached at the wrong place so was curling my toe round when I walked...

Will it grow back?

Did you have the treatment so it won't grow back?

I've not had that. But I have regrown 2 after having one removed.

Yes I had the acid on it to stop it regrowing. Just because the way the nail bed is it will always grow back and make my toe curl under and hamper my walking..

Do you have a before picture?

And does it stay skin like on top, or does the skin harden up to form a pseudo - nail?

Really interesting actually, I’m always fascinated by other people’s procedures and ops.

@zebra, i had my big toenails removed years ago, it stays as skin but can form some harder patches, i just pull them off

ineedwine99 that’s fascinating. Is that after the avid? Would you say it is healed fully yet? Do you ever stick a fake nail on?

Acid not avid

I just had my 2nd taken off as I dropped a brick on it and it grew back like a nasty little birds claw. It took fecking ages to heal so finally I got some iodine paste and that healed it up in a week.
My friend is a great tattooist, she said in 6 months she'll tattoo a new nail on for me. She's done them before and they look great - only on the minor toes though, she said it doesn't look good on the big toe so she normally tattoos a nice design on those

Hey there. I am thinking about having my big toe nail removed due to my current one being uncomfortable. Can I ask... can you paint nail varnish on the hardened skin that you have once it's removed?

I have a traumatised nail. I don’t think it will ever be normal.

@MumCheck my gran had an ingrown nail on her big toe removed years ago and she always paints nail varnish over it.
Wouldn't notice the difference unless yoy were really close.

Hard to decide when it's all the unknown so that helps.
