What is this on DH's foot?

MrsHathaway · 16/06/2017 21:52

The other day DH noticed some odd red spots on his foot. Tonight they seem to have white almost-squeezable lumps behind them. No heat and no pain.

DH is prone to gout but this doesn't look or feel like his usual bouts.

Thoughts?

He was unimpressed by my immediate suggestion of "baby spiders" and declared it unhelpful Hmm

Apologies for terrible photos: focusing on such a small area is almost impossible.

Also yes I know he could do with a Footner so if Sporner Corner solves the mystery I promise I'll get him one and chronicle for you all.

Just pomphylox eczema by the look of it

MrsHathaway · 16/06/2017 21:58

Oh that's interesting. He's the only one in the house not dx with eczema and I agree that the white spots do look eczema-y now I think about it. But the angry red parts don't look like the eczema I'm used to which has thrown me off.

Wonder what he could be reacting to?

Thanks Flowers

We were told it can be something used in shoe manufacture. New shoes?

Blossomdeary · 16/06/2017 22:05

MrsHathaway · 16/06/2017 22:05

My husband is a podiatrist and thinks it's athletes foot.

Patriciathestripper1 · 16/06/2017 22:07

They look like rubbed popped blister spots

RamblingFar · 16/06/2017 22:10

I agree with possibly athletes foot. stick some anti-fungal cream on it for a week and it it disappears then thats probaly your cause. Sometimes it makes your feet go flaky, sometimes you get the rash like bumps.

MrsHathaway · 16/06/2017 22:10

It's definitely under the surface, if that makes a difference.

If athletes foot, should we go to a pharmacy tomorrow to confirm and get anti fungal something?

I get a type of eczema on my hands in the summer that looks exactly like this it is common on the palms and soles of the feet. If it is really itching pop the little blisters (my doctor told me not to pop them but I always do because they itch so much) and then cover in hydrocortisone and then put a dressing over it overnight. Then the next morning cover in salon and again cover with a dressing during the day and then air out as much as possible in the evenings. Repeat this for few days until it dries out and then moisturize like crazy with anything thay doesnt irritate.

SlaveToDisney · 16/06/2017 22:12

Thay should say savlon not salon

velocitygir1 · 16/06/2017 22:17

Yes use lamesal (?) or canesten. You can tell it's athletes foot by the surrounding flakey skin where he has been scratching it.

Foslady · 16/06/2017 22:29

Oh that's interesting Slave - i get this, didn't realise it was a form of eczema !

Waterlemon · 16/06/2017 22:41

My husband has similar - it's excema. His is agrivated by heat. He was also allergy tested and has an allergy to a type of rubber used in shoe glue, so when his feet get hot and sweay, the latex seeps through the lining. He now changes his work boots a couple of times a year, instead of wearing them out.

SlaveToDisney · 16/06/2017 23:11

It's called dishydrotix eczema. If you think you have it google it and then see your go I get prescribed betnovate that is brilliant for It I do the same procedure that I said above nut instead of hydrocortisone I use betnovate. However I thought the op mihht be to get hold of hydrocortisone over the counter and not betnovate.

angelcakesrule · 16/06/2017 23:15

It's eczema, I get it on soles of my feet to, they will dry up and scab over shortly then you can pick them off

Few summers ago I had one right in the middle of the sole, as big as a 50p round and it filled with liquid making it uncomfortable to walk on, one day it popped in my flip flop on the walk home from school Grin

asmallfee · 18/06/2017 19:08

Vesicular athletes foot.
