How do you get rid of those little hard lumps around the eyes?

I've got one of those little hard white spots near my eye. I thought it was going to be a fabulous whitehead, but it is frustratingly resistant to my best attempts at squeezing. Looks like a little hard lump of something just under the skin.

How do I attack the fucker and make it die?

I had cysts in my eye lids years ago. Basically the tear ducts was blocked and the fluid hardens. Had to have a minor op whilst they cut it out with a scalpel and wear an eye patch Blush

It sounds like a milia. Trained beauty therapists can remove them, they are tiny cysts so you can't just squeeze them!

I poke them with something sharp - a needle or the end of extra pointy tweezers - then you can squeeze.
This is probably not the recommended approach.

They're called milia if they're the same ones I have. I use a scrub with salicyclic acid in and a very low dose hydrocortisone cream (0.5%) if they get really bad. They take a while to go though.

I'm not sure if it is milia - because it's just the one, and it just looks like a little hard whitehead. I've squeezed it a lot... hoping to break the seal and pop the little worm out.

Acid toner will help. Pixi glow got rid of a couple I had. Don't squeeze! Unless they look absolutely ready to pop. You will damage the skin and cause scarring.

It sounds exactly like a milia. I occasionally get them near or right on my eyelid. It's probably unwise and if you do do this make sure you won't be interrupted by any DC or anything that could startle you, but I shift them by very carefully piercing them with a clean sharp needle then gently squeezing. The white part pops out like a solid teeny white pea.

Shameful admission only for mumsnet... I also did this to my baby DD as she was so beautiful but born with two massive ones on her cheek that were the first thing you saw and after a couple of weeks were clearly going nowhere. Two careful tiny pricks and they were gone without a mark, never to return.

Run cotton wool under hot water and massage the area with it a few times a day. This sometimes breaks it up and it disperses. My last one I used a sterile needle to open the skin and then tweezers to pull it out.

Last year I had them on my eyelids and I had an eczema flare up because of them. I don't know if squeezing/picking/scratching them caused it but it was unbearable for most of the summer. Doesn't seem to happen with the ones under my eyes but when they got on my eyelid it was fucking horrible. Never had eczema before so I must have some kind of allergy to the stuff inside or something.

I'm tempted to attack it with a pin. I will report back.... although I'm away from the weekend and don't have anything here. I'll have to save it up till Monday

If it's milia then may I suggest jabbing a pin into it, making sure you actually get to the milia, then wait a few days as the milia will dry out, then you can pick it off easily! It works for me every time!

DH used to get these - I loved it!! Sterilise a pin with a flame. Make a hole at the side, almost underneath and give it a wiggle to make the hole big enough. The hard spot will then easily pop out - very satisfying and DH's have never returned!

I had one near my lip, I popped that out a treat, but near my eyes I like to pop it then dry it out, around the eyes can be very sore to poke and prod!

UPDATE!!

I was too scared to attack it with a pin, so I picked at it until it was sore... much better option and then, it's just sort of gone. Reabsorbed or something. Sadly no satisfying little white lump to pop out or anything.

They can get really sore if you pick them, are you sure it's gone? Sometimes when they've been picked they look gone but actually they are hiding in the swollen skin tissue!

They're like little hard seeds. Make a little hole with needle then pop them out

I got one for the first time only and cannot get rid of it. Tried a pin and it's too painful. I'm just leaving it.

DP gets these from time to time. A little jab with a pin and out they pop! I'm always so proud.
