Who wants to see what came out of my brother's ear this afternoon?

He was apparently as deaf as a post before, and now has the hearing of a bat. I wasn't there for the extraction, but he very kindly took a photo for me, along with a coin for scale.

And and and - tomorrow he says I can have a go at his other ear.

Olive oil, and then he apparently syringed it himself. The docs said they couldn't fit him in for five weeks and he couldn't stand it for another five minutes, so he had a go himself. And that came out.

I wish I'd been there. But the photo was almost as good.

As far as we know it's just earwax. He has got form for growing giant plugs of wax that block up his ears.

This is fantastic. I'm obsessed with trying to clean my DH incredibly waxy ears.

Ewwww - how does it get to that stage? And then he decides that he can't bear it for another five weeks - yet it must have taken ages to accumulate that...

That's the best thing I've ever seen. I showed DH and he said, in the manner of the most impressed 5yo ever "woooooooowwwww"

Looks like a mummified shrimp. Does he hide food that he doesn't like in his lugholes?

Wondermoomin apparently it just crept up on him and he didn't realise how bad it was. Then the doctor said to put olive oil in it and that made it much worse and he decided it had to go.

If I get anything worth sharing out of his other ear tomorrow I will share photos!

user he's severely allergic to shrimp so I'm assuming it's not that, but he may have hidden something else in there at some point.

I get psoriasis in my ears and often pull out similar (I'm not suggesting your brothers is psoriasis) i am going to photograph it next time though for all you disgusting lot!!

I do DHs and regularly get that out. Ear drops first, then many many warm syringes of water while his head hangs over the sink. EW.

That really is a thing of beauty but be careful - a few months ago an MNer hospitalised her DH by perforating his eardrum or something while she was having a good old poke!

So, I revise my theory...he is a secret agent and someone tried to kill him by hiding a shrimp in his salad. He fortunately spotted the shrimp (maybe with a shrimp detector shaped like an innocent object such as a fountain pen) and thwarted their evil plan by hiding said shrimp in his ear.
