My DS has had this cyst since birth, it's always been small and unobtrusive.
This last week it's doubled in size and has been sore and red.
It's started leaking yellow gunk bit DS won't let anyone touch it.
He's saying it really hurts.
What if anything can I do?

I went back with him on Friday, saw the same nurse who removed the plaster to reveal it had doubled in size, she called the dr in who sent up straight to the CAU at the hospital.
They decided to carry on with the antibiotics for the rest of the course (another 6 days) and then they'll take him in and remove it as an elective operation.

It's not in a 'normal' place for neck cysts and it may be growing from the bone or be close to or around/on various important nerve clusters so they want it free from infection to be able to operate safely.

It's very sore and I'm not convinced the antibiotics are going to make it open up and discharge like they want it too, he's had 5 days and nothing's changed except it keeps growing.

It's spread right out under the skin and still sore, I'll be taking him back tomorrow to the GP to arrange removing it.

Given one big dose of iv antibiotic and sent home to observe it for a day or 2 then to go back if it doesn't subside.
