Busy family life can make eating well easier said than done. Between work, school, clubs and everything else competing for your time, finding meals that are quick, nutritious and that the whole family will actually eat can feel like a challenge.

Whether you’re stuck in a midweek dinner rut, wondering how to make family meals healthier without creating extra work, trying to introduce more variety into your family’s diet, or simply looking for realistic ways to eat well when time is tight, now’s your chance to ask an expert.

Sasha Watkins (MSc, RD), Head of Health at Mindful Chef and registered dietitian, is here to answer your questions. You can ask Sasha about anything from practical nutrition tips for busy households, to creating balanced family meals, eating for energy, encouraging a positive relationship with food and making healthy choices feel more manageable day to day.

About Sasha:
Sasha Watkins is Mindful Chef’s Head of Health and a registered dietitian with more than 20 years’ experience in nutrition. She works closely with the chefs at Mindful Chef on recipe development and ingredient selection, helping to ensure its meals balance nutrition with great taste.

Sasha believes healthy eating should feel enjoyable rather than restrictive, and specialises in turning nutrition science into simple, practical advice that can work in everyday life.

Post your question for Sasha below by 29/9/26. She’ll then be back to answer a selection of your questions on the thread. Everyone who posts a question by then will also be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 VEX voucher (T&Cs).

My child has low iron. What can I cook to help?

How would you ensure a child gets enough vitamins in each meal - and how would you cook your food to preserve the hightest amounts of vitamins ?
I steam - but feel the taste can be quite strong for children ?

I'd love some tips for healthy slow cooker meals.

I'm really lucky that my 13 year DD eats pretty much anything. But we're definitely stuck in a midweek rut. We like easy one pan stuff for mid week (albeit no preference if the pan goes on the hob or in the oven!). Do you have any easy suggestions for chicken or salmon based healthy one pan meals that are healthy please?

I’d love quick 20minute meal ideas for a family of 4 - 2 kids aged 9 and 5. Something that you can make for the kids and then maybe ‘spruce up’ for the adults?

My daughter has become fussy as she associates food with being in pain.

She can’t eat wheat, dairy, fish or soya.

Since cutting it out she is so much happier but still has a fear of food and I’m struggling getting a good healthy diet for her.

what week meal plan would you recommend for someone with these restrictions?

if I could have just one weeks plan that included the protein/fibre in then I would happily stick to that each week.

I've been quite unwell.lately and everything tastes weird. Salty particularly.

Its very hard to meal prep when you have zero appetite, any tips.

Being wheat intolerant it helps that Mindful Chef are gluten free - any chance you can offer gluten/wheat free pastry or do you not consider pies to be a healthy choice - am struggling to persuade kids to eat more healthily and combined with one of your lovely salad/vegetable dishes I wonder if this would pave the way?
