I'd love to do a Lapland Xmas break with the kids when they're a bit older and out of the tantrum years so it's actually enjoyable and memorable. (Mine are currently 3 and 6, but planning for when they're 5 and 8) When's the best time of year to book so you get the best availability/choice of rooms/activities etc? And which activities would you say are a must?

Hi @ThatBeachLyfe Our 2026 holidays are already available to book, and 2027 holidays we will go on sale in late December. For the best choice of dates, airports, hotels and room types it's best to book as early as possible. We offer a direct debit payment option so booking early can help spread the cost, and on our Santa's Magic packages there will be Free Child Places available on selected departure dates!

It would be a magical experience, what are your facilities for SEN or disabled children ? My child is neurodivergent and I'd like them to experience this with their siblings but would want to know if there are arrangements in place for this

Hi @DinkyDaffodil , great question. We have just published an updated version of our accessibility and sensory guide, so please check these out here. It will take you through each included element of the holiday and what the sensory levels are. This will be the best tool to understand if the holiday will be right for your children.

I think the price of this rules it out for my family, but in the event that my premium bonds win bug, what would you say is the optimum age for children to enjoy it?

@whitepuffyclouds We recommend 5-9 as the prime years! Generally between these ages children are young enough for the magic and old enough to remember it. If an older child still believes or has younger siblings, they will still have a magical time. Due to the low temps we don't recommend Santa's Lapland for the under 2s. Anyone that enjoys Christmas will enjoy Santa's Lapland!

maureenponderosa · 12/11/2025 20:23

What's the best itinerary for the trip?

Hi @maureenponderosa ! Our most popular choice is the Santa's Magic package which offers a great choice of accommodation located around the centre of Saariselkä and there is a full Search for Santa Day with husky sledding, a reindeer sleigh ride, fun with Santa's elves in their magical igloo, snow and ice activities including kick sledding and mini skidoos and a private family meeting with Santa. You'll finish the day with a fun Festive Dinner.

Dizzywizz · 13/11/2025 21:09

How close can you get to the reindeer?

@Dizzywizz , thank you! If you'd like to spend more time with the reindeer, in addition to the included reindeer sleigh ride, you can book an optional adventure, and learn more about them from your local Sami guide, while enjoy a peaceful sleigh ride. There are more reindeer than people in Lapland, so you may also spot them around Santa's Lapland.

Does all transport to and from the hotel and activities be included when you book ?

Hi @pushchairprincess Yes! You will be met at the airport by the Santa's Lapland Rangers, and they will join you on your coach transfer to Saariselkä. Likewise during the short journey to the activity centre for the Search for Santa Day, and your return to the airport. Every Santa's Lapland also includes a reindeer sleigh ride, husky sledding, fun with Santa's Elves, snow and ice activities and the private family meeting with Santa.

Do you need to book the activities at the same time as the hotel - of would you advice to book the activities at the same time - and if so can I change the activity if I decide not to go ahead or will I loose my money for that activity I want to change - how flexible would this be.

Hi @ketchuporbrownsauce Each Santa's Lapland package includes lots of activities to have a truly magical holiday, but we also offer optional adventures you can choose to add on if you wish. We generally recommend booking these in advance to be sure of availability, but you can also choose to book them when you get to Santa's Lapland if you would prefer.

prawncocktailcrispss · 15/11/2025 14:54

How busy would it be - and if we go in peak season do the trips and teaching events generally go on time ?

Hi @prawncocktailcrispss The Santa's Lapland season runs from late November with the last departure arriving in Lapland on Christmas Eve. We have same number of guests on each departure date, but for a quieter experience we would recommend the Santa's Aurora package. Neither of our trips have a 'busy' feel to them and our Search for Santa Days take place at our exclusive activity centres, so you will only be with other Santa's Lapland guests.

Can I swap an activity if we have changed out minds - there are so many to pick but we could not afford to book more than two - both timewise an financially - so how flexible would the company be of people wanted to swap closer to the day ?

Hi @ohdannyboy There is so much included in the packages already, we recommend choosing a maximum of 2 optional adventures to have the best balance of time on your holiday in Lapland. If there is something you really want to do it is better to book in advance to guarantee availability, but if you are more flexible you could wait and book once you have arrived in Lapland.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 16/11/2025 09:26

What is the difference between the standard package and the aurora package? It’s not very clear and I think if you want me to pay over £1k more (which I might depending on what it offers) you need to be very clear about what extras we’re getting.

Why do you show the prices per adult? I can’t imagine many couples are booking this holiday so I know when I look that the price you’re advertising is nowhere near the price I’ll pay. Why not price per family like your competitors?

Hi @YaWeeFurryBastard We sometimes do show family prices to give a guideline, but we know that all families look different, so it's easier for most people to work out the prices per adult and child based on how many people will be travelling.

Runningshorts · 17/11/2025 07:48

Is it fun for teenagers or more geared towards younger children?

Hi @Runningshorts Santa's Lapland can be magical for any age. While it is geared towards children who still believe in Santa, anyone who loves Christmas will have a great holiday. For teenagers, they may enjoy some of the optional adventures such as a snowmobile safari, or searching for the Northern Lights.

If two families book together for 2026, can we both get a free child place for our 3 year old (will be 4 when we go) or is it best to book separately - we wanted adjoining rooms so thought booking together we were able to get the rooms we preferred - booking separately we may end up on different floors - help ??

Thanks @chickenpotnoodle Our free child places are available with one place per two adults, you can see all of the details here.
Bookings can be linked, and it's best to speak to our call centre for a request like this as they will be able to advise you of the best options for allocating rooms close to each other.

Is the transport from the airport shared - or can I upgrade to one taxi for all of us ?

Hi @lovemyflipflops We recommend that guests use our shared coach transfers, as these include lots of fun with our Santa's Lapland Rangers, and are also where you will receive important information about your holiday. However it may be possible to organise a private taxi on request.

10 years ago we went to Saariselka with Santa‘s Lapland and had a brilliant experience!
I guess my question is now that DC are all grown up would it be wrong for me to just go on my own? I loved it, and I would highly recommend it to people with little ones

@BeautifulTulips thanks for your question. Santa's Lapland is magical at any age, but some of the experiences during the Search for Santa day are more geared towards children. If you'd like to visit Lapland again, we would recommend our sister brand Inghams Lapland, where you can choose from trips to Saariselka, Levi, Yllas, Muonio and Phya and can choose which activities you would like to do.

Can two itineraries be arranged for one family - so we can set off and come back to the hotel at a similar time - we'd want different activities so everyone is happy.

Hello @Beabeautiful Every Santa's Lapland package includes a Search for Santa Day at one of our activity centres, and apart from the husky sled ride which has a set time, all of the other activities are free flow, so you can choose how you spend your time and then meet up to catch the same coach back to the hotel. We also offer optional activities you can add on if you wish for some members of your family.

Are their souvenir shops at the activities - and if so can I buy good quality Christmas gifts for friends and family - are these locally made - or are they something which is overpriced and 'Chinese' made with a local touch - similar to ones you buy in Europe when go on holiday ?

Hi @Montydoo We don't have a souvenir shop at the activity centres, but in Saariselka village you will find some locally run shops selling Lappish items.

My question is about the grandparent saving - do we need to add the grandma onto the booking and can she come alone (she is a widow) ''Grandparents can save £100 per couple off adult prices. Applies to grandparents travelling on the same booking (minimum 2 adults and 2 children). Please call us to find out more and book'' or do 2 grandparents need to go ? Would there be a single room - or would the £100 saving if applicable be ofset by any single supplement ?

Good question @Britanniaa As long as there are 3 generations on one booking, the saving will apply, it will be £50 off for one grandparent. Our Santa's Lapland Specialists in our call centre will be able to advise on the best rooms to book depending on your family's requirements.

Can you build your own package for a cheaper rate? My kids would love it. But the options are either day-trip or three days from airports local to us (Bristol/ Cardiff). Looking for an affordable in between option.

Hi @EsmeSusanOgg In 2026, we have a 2-night trip departing from Bristol on 16th December, and we have free child places available on this departure!

SantasLaplandChloe · 02/12/2025 15:05

Hi @Fancyquickthinker Most families choose our half-board option as this makes the mealtimes nice and easy, and there is a good range of buffet food served in our hotels. If you do choose bed and breakfast, the Festive Dinner won't be included, but there is a small choice of local restaurants and one supermarket in Saariselkä. We have plenty of family rooms and interconnecting rooms available to suit all family sizes, and they're available across all our hotels. Apartments are also a great choice to have a communal living space to relax in.

thank you

Lovestotravel79 · 05/12/2025 23:19

We have been on a package and also booked everything myself and its so much cheaper booking it yourself and using local providers for any activities you want to do. Some of the prices quoted seem extortionate and make people think it’s unaffordable but actually with putting in a bit of time and research its very doable.

SantasLaplandGillian · 10/12/2025 11:08

littlecottonbud · 24/11/2025 13:18

How much spending money would a family of 4 need for the holiday - an average amount enough to have a good break away

Hi @littlecottonbud Every Santa's Lapland holiday price includes flights, transfers, half-board accomodation plus one evening meal, and a full day of activities, with thermal suits and boots, so there is not much extra spending money needed on top of the holiday cost. You may need to buy snacks and lunch on your travel days, some drinks in the hotel, and some souvenirs if you wish, and any optional activities that you choose to take part in, but other than that everything is included for a truly magical experience.

Hi @Ilostmyhalo Snowsuits are included for everyone with Santa's Lapland, from age 2 upwards, along with boots, thermal socks and gloves, so you have everything you need to stay cosy provided for you.

Is there much to do for grandparents who would be paying for this for us, want to come, but not take part in the activities (they are 66 and 71)

Hi @pushchairprincess We have lots of grandparents who come to Santa's Lapland, and it is magical for every age. If Grandparents want to join in with the Search for Santa Day but not take part in all of the activities that's no problem. For example at our Santa's Magic Activity Centre, we have warming kotas where they can relax by the open fire with pancakes and warm berry juice, and we also have igloo ice bar to enjoy a drink. The more gentle activities such as a reindeer sleigh ride are enjoyable for all ages, and of course the magical snowmobile sleigh ride to find Santa in his snowy cabin, so grandparents can witness the magical moment the children finally meet him!
