Do you think enough is done to look at the links between physical health and mental health (eg thyroid function / deficiencies in vitamins and minerals)? In my experience a GP is more likely to look at these things in an adult than in a child.

I am so glad you asked this, I think it would save a lot of money if especially graves patients had optimal vitamin levels and GPS were trained in it as there is so much conflicting information out there. One GP gave me 2 iron tablets a day for a Ferritin levels of 10 and another said they would not class that as deficient.

I really worry about social media presence as my child grows, as the early days already caused anxiety in me a teenager. What can we do to foster a healthy relationship with social media to try and prevent already anxious children have increasing issues? And what tools can we use to try and keep communication lines open with us as parents, especially if a child has started to withdraw into an online world due to mental health issues?

When Will the Bupa-sponsored celeb generalist GP be along to answer these highly-specialist CAMHS / Paed Psych questions which fall outside of their specialism?

Still waiting with interest.

My child's childhood is 100% different than mine - peers are different- there appears to be so much pressure to look 'good' have the latest fashion etc - how would you help navigate a 10 year old through this Instagram/Influencer/youTube world which has made such an impact on children's MH ?

jacqui5366 · 25/04/2023 07:58

Would you encourage, ignore or question an invisible friend my DD has ? Do you think she has created this for another reason ? How would you approach it

Montydoo · 25/04/2023 11:01

A CAHMS waiting list is soo long - if you cannot wait. -or afford private - how would you help a child with what you think is an eating disorder - body dysmorphia

SusiePevensie · 25/04/2023 11:03

What should we do to ensure NHS mental health services get better so that people aren't forced to go private?

ohdannyboy · 26/04/2023 08:04

My DD who is 14 and has ADHD and ASD is currently experiencing a lot of anxiety regarding going to school.

Do you find that as young teens get older their anxiety levels lower or do these issues tend to continue for the rest of their lives?

Since being pregnant my mental health has deteriorated, I have been suffering from pre-natal depression and anxiety.

Much of this comes from my concerns that I won't be able to cope when the baby arrives, as I have always struggled with anxiety.

Are there any therapies that can help?

Hello Zoe, how can I best support my DC age 11 whose personality has changed since lockdown, she wants to keep wearing a mask, and it almost OCD about handwashing, germs and Covid (she had Covid in 2021, but only mild symptoms) I want to try to get to the new normal and lessen her anxiety

How much do you think a parent’s poor mental health affects a child? I have had depression/ anxiety/ panic from a young age, medicated but always there, sometimes better sometimes crisis point. My eldest had anxiety before and youngest also showing it now. Is it inevitable they will suffer too? (My Dad and one of my brothers also suffer) thanks

What tips do you have to get a boy age 13 to talk ? Take him out of his surroundings to somewhere neutral ? ask a 3rd party or family member ? I know he is struggling - but do not know why - there is a crisis with MH in this country - no jobs, no money, no future - how do I paint a picture of a happy world to him ?

Do you think the social media platforms should be monitored more - I think 16 is old enough to go on them - (although not realistic I know) too much cyber bullying, inappropriate role models and content - putting pressure on our children - I was a much happier child without instrgram and the world of perfection and filters -

I read that if your child sings when alone, it’s a sign of happiness? We spend so much time looking out for things to be concerned about but what are the things that can reassure us that they are fine?
