@Jammallama

I have a history of cancer and an autoimmune condition that is latent and not treated but is a watch and wait although without any active medical intervention and I don't see a specialist for it. Although I accept I can't really have any affordable life insurance I would like to find accidental death cover. In this way my family will be provided for in the evening of a road traffic accident or other horrid demise. I can't find anything but would like to know why this is and if there is a product available.
Hi @Jammallama,

There are indeed products available in the market for Accident Death Insurance. Unlike life insurance, this policy doesn’t require a medical, so pre-existing health conditions and life style choices won't affect the premium that you pay. A quick search on the internet will highlight a number of providers offering this type of cover

Do you have to have any tests if your family have history of breast cancer

pushchairprincess · 01/03/2022 14:50

What would happen if i cannot afford the monthly repayments - can my policy be amended so I have some cover but for a more affordable cost ?

ohdannyboy · 01/03/2022 14:52

How would you go about estimating the level of cover you require, based on your current situation - and if this changes significantly what are my options re the policy

littlecottonbud · 01/03/2022 14:54

I really cannot afford anything else from my very tight monthly budget - this is something we NEED, but cannot AFFORD, what would you advise for someone with no disposable income

HobNobAddict · 01/03/2022 14:56

I work in local government and have a really good sickness provision, and death in service provision is very generous - what would this policy give me which my current employer would not ?

Montydoo · 01/03/2022 15:01

Can I change my policy to increase or decrease my cover - and do I need a medical if I make changes to increase the cover ?

LittleDeeAndME · 01/03/2022 19:44

Does your profession create higher premium, my DH is a scaffolder and works at great heights, I work in a lab. Thank you

ButterOllocks · 01/03/2022 19:50

Would you recommend income protection or Critical illness, or both? -whats the price difference ?

lillypopdaisyduke · 01/03/2022 19:54

I know I need to take out a policy in case of the worst happening - but just do not have the money to spare - any ideas- what is the lowest protection I can get for my DH - mortgage of £105 k and income of £80k- no disposable income

CLOCK1914 · 01/03/2022 22:01

We have a life insurance on the mortgage do I still need to get a separate life insurance

sjonlegs · 02/03/2022 12:38

Hi Tony

My father has mixed dementia, and I have recently had to move him into a care home. I have POA over his affairs and as an accountant he's always been very financially savvy.

What I don't understand, however, is why he appears to have more than one life insurance policy? Is this even a feasible thing? He's clearly been paying them both for a number of years. My Mum passed several years ago suddenly and was the named beneficiary, but in her absence, would this now pass to another family member automatically?

Please advise. Thanks

SuzCG · 08/03/2022 10:49

As I only work a few hours each week and therefore my salary is a minimal contribution to the household, how important is it still for me to have life cover?

LibbyMumsnet · 11/03/2022 16:43

Thanks for all of your questions. And thanks to @TonyLongden for answering so many!

The winner of the prize draw is @Rummikub - congratulations!
