Having a baby can often be challenging, and weaning your baby is one of many confusing but rewarding parenting milestones. HiPP Organic would like you to ask their expert, Helen Gardiner - your questions about weaning.

Some more information on Helen below:

“Helen is a registered nutritionist and dietician who has worked with HiPP for nearly 19 years advising on a wide range of issues related to infant and child nutrition. She provides support and advice to parents, carers and other healthcare professionals through HiPP customer services and their social media and websites.”

So, ask Helen your questions about weaning by posting them below by 13th November. We’ll then choose 20 questions for her to answer and post her responses as soon as possible. All who leave a question below (regardless of whether it’s chosen or not) will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Can you wean pre six months ?

sm2012 · 04/11/2017 13:52

What good alternatives are there for sugar? I'm really conscious of not giving my daughter too much but there's so much in pre-prepared jars etc that's it's hard to avoid completely and needs adding in some form for sweetness.

mooota1514 · 04/11/2017 13:54

Is the saying 'food is for fun before they turn one's true?

footdust · 04/11/2017 14:03

How do you know whether yo
or baby is ready to be weaned.

mo3733 · 04/11/2017 14:21

my daughter is extremely fussy particularly on textures and purees make her gag. she gets most nutrients from her formula. what can i introduce to feed her ?

Cailin7 · 04/11/2017 14:26

I would like to know about any foods that should be avoided and the best way to move from purees to more solid foods.

janeyf1 · 04/11/2017 14:27

How would you break the habit of a little one just wanting puree who hates trying new things without causing a tantrum?

hiddenmichelle · 04/11/2017 14:35

how much milk should a two year old drink?

ThemisA · 04/11/2017 15:23

Is it true that the more different foods you introduce a young child to the more likely they are not to be fussy? If so what foods would you recommend to encourage an adventurous palette? Thanks:)

As a new mother it's something I feel so worried about when the time comes. Canyou give a first time mum advice and tips on the best ways to approach weaning and when I should start?

glennamy · 04/11/2017 16:42

What is the best age to start weaning and are there guidelines to how much you should feed?

maryandbuzz1 · 04/11/2017 17:16

My son eats everything we do that has been puréed however now when we have tried to introduce lumps he spits everything out. This has been going on for months...What do you advise?

israrbaig · 04/11/2017 17:25

What signs do i look for that my baby is enjoying the various flavors of food

vonniebab2 · 04/11/2017 18:04

What age should you start giving you child pieces of fruit?

tokyobanana · 04/11/2017 18:57

Why is all shop-bought baby food the same hue of orange, regardless of the flavour?

ameswright2906 · 04/11/2017 19:21

I have heard of baby-led weaning where the baby eats whole pieces of fruit - however, my children couldn't even eat bananas without almost choking so I was wondering whether this technique actually works?

stefalfie11 · 04/11/2017 19:26

At what age should we move on from pureed food to lumpier things?

Kraggle · 04/11/2017 19:40

Are there any tips for spoon feeding a baby?

Dd is 7 months and we are doing blw mostly which is going well but every now and again I'd like to spoon feed eg yogurt/purée etc. She won't open her mouth! If we give her a spoon she waves it about grows it and still won't really open up.

Kraggle · 04/11/2017 19:41

Throws it!

ClaireJ89 · 04/11/2017 20:27

how can I stop my purees being so grainy and gritty?

buckley1983 · 04/11/2017 20:39

When weaning my LO - I relied heavily on pouches & jars. I did try & sort my own homemade foods - but I found it really stressful & he never seemed to enjoy it! Having the option of jars & pouches was a massive relief for me - but it was something I felt really ashamed off as I felt people would view me as lazy or not bothered about my child.
Do you think this is ok?
LO would obviously have fresh fruit & veg - it was the recipes & pureeing I was awful at, it always ended up like glue!

foxessocks · 04/11/2017 20:48

I've heard you shouldn't give more than one banana a day...is this right and does that change as they get older?

juju3 · 04/11/2017 20:55

Baby seems to love snacking at all times - should I allow this to carry on or try to enforce a mealtimes rule

helsrodders · 04/11/2017 21:22

I like using spices/garlic in our family meals and cooking Italian dishes. What age is best to introduce these foods/flavours to a baby?

meepmoop79 · 04/11/2017 21:50

Is it ok to use jar food every day?
