Gill81uk · 20/03/2016 21:58

What are the nutritional benefits of drinking fruit juice? One of my friend's is really down on it and spouts all the negatives, but my son loves it and I'm happy for him to have it in moderation. I am aware it can be "one of the 5 a day", but I'm not sure how to back this up when we are debating it!

Jocelynne123 · 20/03/2016 22:06

I know that to much fruit juice is bad for your teeth and contains a lot of sugar so you have to drink in moderation but are some fruit juices worse that others. For example would drinking orange juice be better for you than drinking apple? Xx

I always buy premium brands of juice, but I wondered if the cheaper brands or store brands were just as good, as the price variations can be so great! I wonder if I am wasting money by spending more when I don't have to?

julesh123 · 21/03/2016 08:43

Should you brush your teeth after drinking any kind of fruit juice?

campocaro · 21/03/2016 08:45

Is it possible to make a pomegranate juice without added sugar or sweeteners? If so I'd be happy to buy it .

VickyRsuperstar · 21/03/2016 09:48

We have always loved fruit juice as part of our diet, but more recently I've seen a lot of conflicting information saying that fruit juice is less healthy than we think, that it is loaded with sugars and can cause weight gain - is this true? I have always seen it as the healthy alternative to squashes.

Also when I read on fruit juice boxes some say from concentrate and others don't - what is the difference other than adding water later, does it matter nutritionally? Are there any benefits from not having concentrate? (or having it?)

I was also told that juice is harsh on teeth - is this true? and are some like apple juice better than orange or orange and lemon?
Should I be diluting it with water for young children? I never have in the past as they won't actually drink it and any children's drinks I've bought with fruit juice and water, my kids have hated them! My dentist tells us to drink juices and fizzy drinks with a straw to avoid damage - is this true or is she over-reacting?
I would love to know the answers!

What measures do Tropicana take to ensure their juices are not adulterated in the food chain, given that extending orange juice with pulp wash is one of the commonest types of food fraud? How often do they test juice with NMR or similar analysis?

Also does their juice need to be kept in the fridge or is it just to give the impression of a premium product like Sunny Delight did? Would it be possible to create packaging enabling their juice to be stored at room temperature, greatly reducing the environmental impact of the product?

nonnyno · 21/03/2016 10:40

Is it true that drinking orange juise can increase IOP (pressure in the eye)?

grannybiker · 21/03/2016 11:08

Not very "Mumsy," but why does orange juice always make me feel very queasy the morning after a heavy night?

sjl19 · 21/03/2016 11:30

I have started to freeze fruit juice in lolly moulds as my son was always asking for ice lollies. Is this really bad for his teeth?

meggysar · 21/03/2016 12:18

Is it safe for children to drink undiluted fruit juice in terms of tooth decay?

vincenta · 21/03/2016 12:41

I would love to ask about vegetable juices with fruits. are they healthier for kids? or just less sugar as vegetables naturally don't contain so much sugar as fruits?

Pimmpom · 21/03/2016 13:36

When my children were young I always made sure they used straws when drinking juice. Now they are teenagers it seems to have gone by the wayside. Is it something I should be encouraging again?

jacqroberts68 · 21/03/2016 14:31

I'm confused as to the sugar tax where juices are concerned? Are they unhealthy? Is made from concentrate a bad thing?

jamielmdjs · 21/03/2016 14:58

I look at juice cartons and they often have a bigger sugar content than fizzy pop. Sugar is seen as the ultimate evil these days. I often hear people say 'but it's natural sugars'. What's the difference, are these really better? I want the boys to get as much fruit and veg as possible but at the same time i am keen on limiting sugar intake.

laurac1987 · 21/03/2016 18:40

I've heard lots of contrasting information about fruit juices. Are they good for you or not? I am aware that they contain a lot of sugar - which varieties are the best ones to drink?

Natasha7 · 21/03/2016 19:19

Is ts better to drink juice before or after meal?
