Do you want to talk about hygiene and antibacterial wipes? - Receive a £20 voucher for 1.5 hours online discussion

YanaMumsnet · 11/08/2020 13:05

We are working with an organisation to help them understand attitudes towards hygiene and usage of antibacterial wipes, and get your feedback on some of their new products.

We are looking for 10 MNers to join us in discussion on a private thread for a 1.5 hours online focus group and help us with their opinions.

If selected, you will receive your personal link to join the private conversation happening either on Wednesday 19th or Thursday 20th of August 2020.

Please only sign-up if you would be available for at least one of these dates.

All selected participants who actively engage in the conversation for the entire duration of an hour and a half will be rewarded with a £20 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

To find out more and sign up, click here.

Thanks and good luck!

@YanaMumsnet - I really, seriously, wonder who you're partnering with here.

Even the most junior qualitative researcher would know that you never only do one group discussion on a project.

And paying and incentive of just £20 is really cheapskate. You should be paying at least £40 if not £50.

Really doesn't make Mumsnet Insight look very professional Angry

Zoflorabore · 12/08/2020 09:59

Signed up for this. Would be interesting as an OCD sufferer Smile

torthecatlady · 12/08/2020 16:27

I signed up but it brought me back to the thread when I clicked "done". Can you confirm if you received my application?

Attictroll · 13/08/2020 10:59

£20 for 1.5 hours discussion I think people should expect more for their time

Shabooma · 13/08/2020 18:52

Is it only for posters with children, @YanaMumsnet?

Angelfaced · 13/08/2020 20:58

I would love to be chosen to join in this.

£20??

Angelina82 · 15/08/2020 21:09

Antibacterial wipes are terrible for the environment. When are people going to learn?

Really???

OneFootintheRave · 16/08/2020 16:54

Yep, £20 seems really cheapskate for an hour long focus group.

BIWI · 16/08/2020 16:56

... and yet no reply from MNHQ Hmm

YanaMumsnet · 17/08/2020 09:49

Thanks for your comments, and thanks to those who have volunteered their time already. We're offering £20 voucher as a small token to say thank you for participating in our online chat. Of course, if you'd rather not take part in the research discussions, then that's fine. But thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it!

That's a rather disingenuous response, @YanaMumsnet.

As a researcher you must know that participants are offered incentives for their time, and that £20 for 1.5 hours is way below what any reputable research agency would be offering.

Clearly it's up to people here to decide if they want to take part Hmm but you undermine the respect that research and researchers should be affording to people who participate, which suggests that you (actually probably your client) don't value their contribution.

As a researcher myself, I know that clients often see online research, using communities such as Mumsnet, as a cheap option - a way of 'getting round' the costs of other ways of doing research. It saddens me to see you complicit in this.

And that's before we get into the issue of conducting only one group discussion ...
