The NFL (National Football League) will be taking over one of London’s most iconic locations (Piccadilly) on Saturday 8th September to kick off the start of the 2018 season and they would love as many Mumsnetters to attend as possible!

Here’s what the NFL UK Managing Director Alistair Kirkwood has to say: “This will be a fantastic way to launch the new season. The NFL has a great reputation of staging engaging fan events in London – at locations such as Trafalgar Square and Regent Street – and we are excited about the opportunity of taking over Piccadilly. The planned activities will appeal to everyone, whether they are currently NFL fans or not, and we are looking forward to a day of fun, football and family entertainment that will be a great celebration of our sport.”

The planned activities will feature:
- On-stage entertainment, including an exclusive inner circle performance by The Vamps
- NFL cheerleaders
- Family Tailgate area, including interactive NFL-themed games
- Appearances by NFL legends, including Q & A sessions and signings
- Kids’ Zone, including an NFL mini-pitch
- Screenings of the new America’s Game, featuring the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII triumph, at NFLUK Theatre
- NFL mascots, including Swoop from the Eagles
- Wide range of American-style food
- NFL Shop, where fans can buy a wide range of merchandise from their favourite team
- A screening of Super Bowl LII, between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, played in February – complete with explanations and analysis by NFL experts, including the BBC’s Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell and Sky Sports’ Neil Reynolds.

The free event will take place on Saturday 8th September 2018 in Piccadilly, London from 12 noon - 6:00pm. Travel costs will not be covered, but all attendees will be asked to share their feedback on the event on a thread on Mumsnet.

Signed up. This looks like so much fun and they have a mini pitch.

My son would love this and we haven't managed to get him any NFL tickets this year.

WhirlwindHugs · 07/09/2018 06:46

Looks great! Is it okay if we can't get there until halfway through??

EllieMumsnet · 07/09/2018 09:35

@WhirlwindHugs That's completely fine, it's free to attend and you are able to go whenever you want Smile

If I'd been closer.....

But I'm not, and anyway, I'd already committed to PTA stuff at the school.

DancingUnicorn · 08/09/2018 17:15

I've just been, I'm not sure how to leave any feedback though!

Ummm so I went with my 3yo son and I wish I didn't as I couldn't really partake in most of the events - there were some goodies if you queued and completed some activities like catching the ball and doing a touch down or jumping into a ball pit at the Subway stand to get a free t-shirt. But there were other photo opportunities that we took advantage of though he was too small to out his head through. I would think this was geared for the more older kids and adults alike. Good atmosphere with the weather not acting up and we got a Pepsi can handed out free. A food section with various vendors that appealed to all/ most tastes and the BAFTA building turned into a Theatre/ Hall of fame. All in all great day out though I wish I could've had a chance to take part in some of the activities. I'd advice coming earlier to avoid the queue.

It was worth a wander. The atmosphere was very cheery and fun. The event wasn't really designed to win over any new fans though. The highlight was definitely meeting the very handsome and charismatic Otto.

@amaksy we arrived at 12:07 and there were huge queues already. It was a shame as DS couldn’t take part in lots of things but is a huge NFL fan other than the mini pitch but he was already upset by the time we got there so was not going to try.

Amaksy · 10/09/2018 07:21

Ohhhhhhhh thanks for that. I thought the queue build up was over time, didn’t realise it was from onset.

WhirlwindHugs · 10/09/2018 07:57

The queues were massive until the Vamps gig started. However, we still had a good time - I think the QR codes helped as we've been in worse free London event queues!
