This is the feedback thread for the 10 Mumsnetters who attended the VIP opening event at Bluewater Shopping centre for Swedish children’s lifestyle brand Newbie.

Here’s what Newbie has to say: “Newbie’s collections focus on sustainability, quality and design: products are made using organic cotton and any fabrics used that are not cotton are either sustainable or recycled. Newbie’s designs, with patterns and colours inspired by nature, have been developed to create pieces which won’t age, but will be inherited and loved for generations.”

Attendees, please answer the below questions on your experience at the event

  • What did you enjoy most at the event?
  • What do you think of the Newbie range?
  • Would you recommend Newbie to a friend?

All attendees who give their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one attendee will win a £150 Newbie voucher.

Non-attendees - to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 Newbie voucher, please answer the following question:

  • What are your favourite things to dress your children in?

Thanks and good luck!

I like them to look cute at the moment. I know that it won't last for long, but while they allow me to dress them, I like them in cutesy dresses and tights

ChasedByBees · 14/04/2018 16:30

I didn’t attend but what do I like to dress my DC in:

Something we both like! We both have strong opinions on suitable clothes even though she’s only 5 so I like to find things that we both agree on.

Things that are practical are a winner for me, things that are ‘pretty’ are a winner for her.

Non attendee here. My dd loves a dress and my son looks lovely in a good pair of jeans and a jumper. He hates jumpers though, unfortunately Sad

non-attendee: puddlesuit for playing in the park!

I love to dress my 18 month old in comfy, practical items. Leggings and tunic tops made from cotton. Dungarees are another firm favourite. We avoid overly girly items preferring practical, fun and comfortable styles.

Next have fabulous clothes which wash well.
Asda and Sainsbury's too.

A particular favourite is m & s.
They have some really lovely, high quality clothes. Soft cotton dresses and vests.

My favourite item to dress my four year old in is a pair of dungarees. Long ones for cold weather and short for warmer weather. They must have pockets for toys and be hard wearing. Dungarees look great in bright colours and are just so practical, I love them :)

Headfullofdreams · 15/04/2018 20:24

Clean clothes and bright colours but they do like to wear black!

GetKnitted · 16/04/2018 22:38

What are your favourite things to dress your children in?

my two ds love their favourite hoodies. I used to adore dressing them in fluffy babygros with ears when they were babies

HannahLI · 17/04/2018 13:32

Non attendee - My boys love shorts and t-shirts or tops most of the time. I really like it when they are comfy but also have fun patterns and colours on them.

CopperPan · 17/04/2018 16:08

Non attendee. My DDs like comfortable, practical clothes they can move around in - dresses with leggings or t shirts and joggers. Generally they prefer cotton, and zip/button up cardigans rather than jumpers as they find it easier to dress.

ailsasheldon · 17/04/2018 18:56

I love Boden shorts. My twin boys are now 10 and every year I have bought four pairs of striped shorts. I love them, they love them. Happy days!

AveAtqueVale · 17/04/2018 19:58

Non-attendee: I love dressing both my DSs in bright colours. I go for soft and stretchy materials as much as possible, and prefer clothes that look they’ve been designed with children in mind rather than miniature versions of adult clothes.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/04/2018 21:48

Non attendee - I have two dds and when they were smaller they wore mainly French brands like Petit Bateau or Cyrillus as they fitted best. Now they are 10 and 13 they still wear PB as they are both skinnies, but also Zara, Mango, and Polarn O.Pyret for outerwear, thermals and pyjamas.

I don't have so much say over what my kids wear now but I loved to dress them in comfy sleepsuits when they were babies and bright colours as they got older.

Coffeechick · 18/04/2018 15:27

I like dressing my son in a shirt and smart chinos or jeans.
I like dressing my saughyee in dresses and she has many different styles, mainly loose cotton type ones and a few more dressed up versions

MimsyBorogroves · 18/04/2018 21:43

Non-attendee. I dress mine in whatever they are most comfortable, either physically or emotionally.

For DS, I try and steer clear of all the usual blue/grey/khakhi stuff with dinosaurs/monkeys etc on, as it all gets a bit samey. I like putting him in a mix of colours, and find H&M do some lovely clothes for boys.

DD, similar - I try and find something a bit more interesting than Frozen/ pink princess/fairy/unicorn stuff. Her skin seems quite sensitive, so I look out for 100% cotton items as she complains of feeling itchy when wearing artificial fibres.

I bought some items for DS from Polarn y Pyret a while ago. They were certainly pricy, but the quality is outstanding and as they're unisex they will be passed down to DD when he's outgrown them.

Gazelda · 19/04/2018 16:08

What are your favourite things to dress your children in?
DD is 10, so I don't have as much influence over her clothing as I used to! But as I'm paying, I get the last say.
She likes comfort, trousers generally. There's a lot of leggings in our house!
I like practical stuff, ie washes well, doesn't need too much ironing, will dry quickly because I know that once she likes an outfit she will want to wear it almost every day.
She's very partial to anything with a unicorn at the moment.

lfcvicki · 20/04/2018 13:17

I used to dress my daughters in the same clothes until recently - they have different personalities and I let them have a say in what they wear. Most of their clothes are from Asda and Primark and I take them to River Island at Christmas and on their birthday to by a treat outfit - I love the clothes in there as they are unique and funky but just so expensive. I love long dresses and harem trousers in bright prints as it starts to get warmer.

Anything bright! Loud, colourful and fun. My boys both wear lovely and bright clothes. My youngest (12 weeks) lives in tights and sleepsuits. Thanks

I like cotton comfortable clothes in bright colours. My favourites are rompers and dungarees. A cute animal print is a bonus!

frowner · 22/04/2018 20:10

Non attendee , anything with dinosaurs on for my daughter!

wontbedoingthat · 23/04/2018 09:40

Non attendee - clothes they can put on themselves! Failing that, soft with free range of movement and of a reasonable quality. Prefer not to put them in 'outfits', just clothes that don't add any additional complexity to the day. For children clothes are pretty much an inconvenience until they're a little older!
