This is the feedback thread for the 10 Mumsnetters who attended the VIP opening event at Bluewater Shopping centre for Swedish children’s lifestyle brand Newbie.

Here’s what Newbie has to say: “Newbie’s collections focus on sustainability, quality and design: products are made using organic cotton and any fabrics used that are not cotton are either sustainable or recycled. Newbie’s designs, with patterns and colours inspired by nature, have been developed to create pieces which won’t age, but will be inherited and loved for generations.”

Attendees, please answer the below questions on your experience at the event

  • What did you enjoy most at the event?
  • What do you think of the Newbie range?
  • Would you recommend Newbie to a friend?

All attendees who give their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one attendee will win a £150 Newbie voucher.

Non-attendees - to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 Newbie voucher, please answer the following question:

  • What are your favourite things to dress your children in?

Thanks and good luck!

Non-attendee. I have squirrelled away a beautiful, bright organic babygro which DS barely wore because I kept it for best. I won’t have any more children now, but I keep it just for looking at.
Nowadays, I like DS to wear joggers; practical for toilet training.

foxessocks · 11/04/2018 18:47

Non attendee - I like bright colours for babies which is hard to find for baby boys but my ds did have some lovely bright trousers when he was a bit younger. Everything is a bit grey now! My dd has an opinion now and loves to wear things like paw patrol t shirts most of the time but if I choose for her I tend to pick just plain leggings and t shirts for comfort.

Anj123 · 11/04/2018 23:17

Non tester. My daughter chooses her own clothes now and likes comfortable things like leggings and T shirts but likes dressing up too.

asuwere · 12/04/2018 08:41

Non attendee: while babies, I liked to keep them in sleepsuits as long as possible (1yr) as so practical, then soft joggers and tops.
Now, they all choose their own clothes so I don't really get an opinion.

claza93 · 12/04/2018 08:44

Non-attendee - I love to dress my children in bright and bold colours so I can spot them a mile off!
When they were babies they spent most the time in cosy sleep suits - perfect for keeping them snug and they looked so adorable

Non attendee -

I like to dress my son in comfortable clothes he can move around in. I don't really like slogan clothing, but I love having a variety of different colours.

I love my little boy in dungarees, he looks lovely in blue ❤️

I always love dressing them in leggings, no messing around with buttons etc. Always lots of colour too.

Butterfly1975 · 12/04/2018 14:36

Non tester - I'm just happy when I find something for DD that is good quality and not trying to dress her like a mini teenager!

I think there's a huge gap in the market on the high street for quality children's clothing between ages 5-11. For girls especially it is so difficult to find age appropriate clothing when it is crop tops galore age 7 + even at shops like M&S! Be great to have a wider choice other than only online at Boden and the like.

mummy81 · 12/04/2018 16:11

Non attendee: I like dressing up my daughter in bright crazy leggings whereas she would like to wear dresses whatever the whether!

Babygros all the way.
When mine were babies, we lived in cotton babygros.
Now they are older, simple cotton dresses are their uniform.
DD1 would sometimes wear a t-shirt with leggings.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 12/04/2018 16:51

Non attendee here.
I like to dress dd in really bright and colourful clothes, with interesting and quirky prints.
I avoid pink if possible.

My daughter likes bright colours, comfy leggings and jumpers. I like it when she wear dungarees and embroidered denim, she also has some gorgeous dresses.
My little boy likes shirts and bow ties, he loves looking smart!

Pajamas! I really love bedtime, seeing the children in their bed time clothes is so lovely!

dannydog1 · 12/04/2018 20:46

I love my toddler in the leggings that look like jeans for comfort.
Tops are using tunics that have unusual prints for girls such as cars or dinosaurs.

Hopezibah · 12/04/2018 21:14

non-tester: When they are very young practical clothes like babygrows are perfect. Then in toddler years I adore dungarees!!!! especially with buttons for easy opening for nappy changes.

For little girls, dresses that are comfy AND pretty are perfect.

Sazzle1984 · 12/04/2018 22:07

Non-attendee I like to dress my son in joggers and Bodysuits in the daytime for comfort.

yasmin0147 · 13/04/2018 09:23

What are your favourite things to dress your children in?
I love dressing them in cardigans and dungarees

mrsglowglow · 13/04/2018 09:24

Love the look of this brand! My children are older and now choose their own clothes -sadly consisting of lots of adidas. I kind of miss choosing beautiful outfits for them. Love to see little ones in bright colours and prints.

CMOTDibbler · 13/04/2018 10:28

Non attendee - when DS was little, I was all about leggings and t shirts. Now he's older, it's lightweight joggers and funky t shirts that he prefers!

Newbie looks really lovely. I love getting my children clothes from different countries, areas, and boutiques as well as chain stores. Diversity is key. I also absolutely love the hand-me-downs that friends with older children gift my children - as last season things and things from even more diverse places mean that kids aren't all wearing the same things as their friends! I also hand make some bits and pieces, sometimes pick up things from charity stores and I love TK Maxx!

I'm more than happy to hand down my children's things- to friends, or sell bagfuls online or give to charity. There's always someone who's grateful for much-loved things and even those things with small marks and imperfections can be played out in or used for school outdoor pursuits trips without having worries!!

I love dressing my girls in comfy leggings, tunic tops and boots. Whatever they are comfortable in really. My eldest (6yrs) loves her dresses and skirts so she wears those with leggings or tights.

DarkDarkNight · 13/04/2018 23:47

Non-attendee:

I like a mix of Scandi brands, small designers for vintage-feel pieces and lots of High Street - mainly Next and Zara.

Simple. Practical. Comfortable.

I like to dress my babies in babygros for as long as possible!

ohdearwhatcanthematterbee · 14/04/2018 09:19

Non attendee. I love dressing my baby in small local labels- I like organic fair trade cotton and it’s hard to find in shops!
