This is the feedback thread for the 10 Mumsnetters who attended the VIP opening event at Bluewater Shopping centre for Swedish children’s lifestyle brand Newbie.

Here’s what Newbie has to say: “Newbie’s collections focus on sustainability, quality and design: products are made using organic cotton and any fabrics used that are not cotton are either sustainable or recycled. Newbie’s designs, with patterns and colours inspired by nature, have been developed to create pieces which won’t age, but will be inherited and loved for generations.”

Attendees, please answer the below questions on your experience at the event

  • What did you enjoy most at the event?
  • What do you think of the Newbie range?
  • Would you recommend Newbie to a friend?

All attendees who give their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one attendee will win a £150 Newbie voucher.

Non-attendees - to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 Newbie voucher, please answer the following question:

  • What are your favourite things to dress your children in?

Thanks and good luck!

My baby is due in a month and I haven’t bought a great deal of clothes, but a mixture of plain white babygros and lovely brightly coloured ones clearly appeal to me based on the contents of the chest of drawers I have just filled! These all set off the handknitted cardigans that my mum and I have made

Sugarhouse · 09/04/2018 21:35

I love dressing my boy in dungarees il be really sad when he’s too old for dungarees they are just so cute

Mel0Dram4 · 09/04/2018 21:36

I really like the look of this brand!
I have two boys, one nearly 3 and one 4 months.
I'm a big believer in comfort for little ones, so fabrics must be soft and cosy..no hard denim.
I like bold prints and Scandi style designs. I love my little ones to stand out in a crowd. I tend to go for bright Colours, not afraid to put them in pink either.
I love handknitted cardis and my youngest wears a lot of handmedowns.
Although I said I love bright colours and bold designs there's something very cute about a baby in a snuggly white babygro.

weasel6 · 09/04/2018 23:27

When I'm buying I like bright colours and clothes which are gender neutral so that they can be handed down the siblings - brands like Tootsa McGinty, The Bonnie Mob and Maxomorra. I don't like print clashing though so like to have good neutrals as well. In reality we have a lot of handmedowns so the kids wear a total assortment of stuff!

My DS really doesn't mind what he wears so I tend to put him in jeans / joggers and a jumper or hoodie. Just something comfortable that makes it easy for him to run around in (and which will wash well!!).

My DD likes to pick out her clothes sometimes so will often go for a 'pretty dress' (or Disney Princess outfit!!). I like her in leggings & a jumper though again for comfort & ease of playing etc.

peronel · 10/04/2018 08:39

Non-attendee. Fun and practical clothes, nothing with a logo. Tu, M & S and the Boden joggers are great.

I have a 9 month old boy. I love a range of different colours for him, not just baby blue. Favourite things to dress him in are a long sleeved vest and dungarees, or a long sleeved vest and trousers, with a jumper if it's cold. I love patterned trousers as well.

I like bright colours on my boys. Usually jeans on the bottom and a brightly coloured shirt, it makes them easier to find!

newmummalion · 10/04/2018 11:14

Non-attendee. Most of the time my little one is in sleepsuits and rompers. I just find that baby clothes either ride up or fall down! I like M&S and next. The supermarkets are also great for budget buys. Boots have some lovely patterns too!

  • What did you enjoy most at the event?

I really enjoyed being warmly welcomed by the lovely shop assistants, they cared about what we were looking for and were very helpful.
I loved that we had the opportunity to have the clothes we purchased embroidered, it makes them even more special.
The Cinnamon buns were really nice too :)

  • What do you think of the Newbie range?

I liked that the colours were not bright and full of superhero characters,
The prints are gorgeous.
However I do wish that the Baby range went up to 18/24 months, there was a beautiful shirt that I wanted to purchase, but sadly too small.
I found the boys range smaller than the girls range but then it is the same in every shop.

  • Would you recommend Newbie to a friend?

I definitely would and already have, such a good quality and unbelievable price, I was thinking the clothes would be a lot more expensive.

I love neutral colours and wool/felted wool hoodies.
I have 2 under 4 year old boys and I don’t do the matching thing ever.
I love linen too but it’s not terribly practical as a non ironing mum!!

SusanWalker · 10/04/2018 16:53

Non-attendee.

My dd is 12 so picks most of her own clothes now. She doesn't like wearing dresses or skirts so usually wears leggings, jeans or denim shorts with tights.

Ds wears joggers and t shirts. He sometimes wears proper trousers but he doesn't really like them as he has asd and doesn't like the feel.

I love my 4 year old dressed in his pyjamas , slippers and dressing gown. He looks so cute and cuddly !
I'm making the most of it before he's a lanky teenager!

I really love a good sleepsuit. I feel a lot of pressure to not dress in sleepsuits (a few people have asked why DS is in his PJs!) but at only 7mo I like to dress him in comfy clothes that he can move comfortably in and that I think he'll be comfy in in his car seat. Besides he's still a baby so I can still dress him in one!

Aside from that I do love a good pair of dungees!

  • What are your favourite things to dress your children in?
When they were babies loved lovely soft patterned sleep suits. When toddlers was leggings and long tunic like tops or tee shirts. Now they're teenagers have absolutely no say in it!

I love fabric dungarees for my ds and anything that washes well and doesn't have any slogans on. I usually go for bright colours but mix and match with more neutral stuff too

I like to dress my children in comfortable, durable clothing. My daughter in particular wears neutral colours and style. My son is a bit older and prefers brighter colours. I steer away from anything with any kind of slogan.

Theimpossiblegirl · 10/04/2018 22:46

I like natural fabrics, easy to wear clothes, so basically baby-grows, leggings and tees. I'm also a big fan of neutral colours and patterns (spots/stripes particularly).
I'm not a fan of character clothing, fussy clothing or slogans.

I have a 10 month old, and love baby jeggings on her. Ive got some very cute soft ones with little pockets on them Practical for crawling and comfy. Colourful tops with pictures or patterns, not logos.

penguinpurple · 11/04/2018 06:24

Non attendee I like leggings and comfy dresses for my daughter. A mix of girly and unisex. Dislike slogans.
For my baby boy it tends to be vest and soft trousers. I like classic stylish blues and whites but sometimes brights, rainbows etc.

I love dressing my children in clothes they enjoy wearing and can dress themselves in. Leggings and tracksuit bottoms with patterns are popular with them both. My daughter loves anything with butterflies or flamingoes and my son loves dinosaurs or sharks. We usually choose brighter clothes - they have a lifetime of wearing more muted colours Snead of them!

purplepandas · 11/04/2018 12:53

Non-attendee. I have less choice now as they are older and like to make their own decisions. I like bright colours personally and easy to wear fabrics. I am not a fan of fuss!

INeedNewShoes · 11/04/2018 15:12

My favourite outfits for DD are dungarees and coordinating top and tights or a short dress and tights - practical for crawling and exploring in and no worry about trousers falling down!

MummyBtothree · 11/04/2018 15:56

I love to dress my DS'S in smart but casual clothes ❤
