We have been asked by the team behind the campaign "Olive it!" to find 20 MNers to attend a special event in London to learn all about tapas and olives.

Olive it! is a culinary concept that aims to bring a sparkle to traditional olives by incorporating them into your cooking in new and exciting ways. The team there say "to help you bring this olive 'explosion' to life we are offering you the chance to experience a once in a lifetime olive cooking course with celebrated Spanish chef, Omar Allibhoy. During the class, selected MNers will experience hands-on tuition in an atmospheric and professional cook school in the heart of London. On this exciting cooking course you will be inspired to get creative in the kitchen and learn how to make a selection of delicious tapas with the 'master of tapas' himself".

"Omar Allibhoy will take you on a culinary journey where you can explore the exciting flavours of the Mediterranean and learn how to make a selection of beautiful and mouth-watering dishes that will impress friends and family. Take a look at our website for recipe inspiration".

They go on to say "olives are an essential ingredient in the Mediterranean diet. Versatile and full of flavour, olives also have important nutritional properties – olives are a source of vitamin E and black olives are a source of iron. What’s not to love? This tapas cookery class with Omar Allibhoy is a perfect way to experiment with flavours of the Mediterranean and will leave you fully equipped to host your own tapas party! Each session ends with a mouth-watering feast of all the food prepared, accompanied by some carefully selected wines".

The event will take place

Near Oxford Circus, central London
On Wednesday 17th June
11.00am – 2.00pm
With regret no children, due to safety reasons
And you will need to make your own way to the event, and to stay for the whole session.

And is strictly by invitation only!

After the event, we'd need you to please give your feedback on a thread on MN - we'd love you to take some photos during the event and to share these on the thread.

All attendees will receive a goodie bag containing a tapas cooking kit, olives, recipe book and apron (worth around £60) and also be entered into a prize draw where one attending MNer will win a £50 John Lewis voucher.

If you'd like to take part please add your details here and we will be in touch with selected MNers asap.

Thanks and good luck

Any chance some of these events could be held anywhere that's not London?

YesThisIsMe · 09/06/2015 15:08

To be fair the Bratano shoe shop which is far more useful than this bit of fun was in multiple sites all outside London IMST.

I'd love this one and am in London but can't justify a day off work so close to the summer hols.

SecretSquirrels · 09/06/2015 16:35

Much as I love olives and eat tons .... London is too far.

I love olives. I am seriously considering taking the day off work!

chocolateyay · 09/06/2015 18:32

Muuuuuumsnet, did my surveymonkey go through? If it did I meant to add 'and my tortilla sucks'.

Sorry - can't see a form from you at all - can you try again?

I love tapas but agree with IMST we need more outside of London.

chocolateyay · 09/06/2015 19:15

Oh ball-sacks. Will do...

AnnMumsnet · 09/06/2015 19:21

Sorry this one is in London if you can't get there - we have run events like screenings etc across the UK previously but unfortunately no location will be perfect for everyone.

Just filled it in but my computer froze for aaaages, and then it started whiring and 'not responding'. I think it has gone through as it has gone back to the homepage but can you check, please?

sfancy · 09/06/2015 22:04

I LOVE Olives and Tapas and the event is right by my office :)

sfancy · 09/06/2015 22:11

Hi Anne, I would really like to attend and just wanted to confirm that you received my submission? Many thanks!

SayThisOnlyOnce · 10/06/2015 09:53

I can't attend but I love how olive-tastic this is. And I do think London is a reasonable place, it's the capital, it has best transport links and you can never please everyone. (Not a Londoner)

InMySpareTime · 10/06/2015 10:00

Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh have very good transport links too.
What irks me is that there are occasional events that are nationwide but if it's only one location, that location is always London.
I get that a lot of people live in or near London (I grew up there), but even given that, surely it'd be fair to have half the single location events in London, with the other half split between other major cities?

AnnMumsnet · 10/06/2015 11:05

sfancy, peaz and Back2Two - yep all went in ok! thanks.

I'd love to go to this, I eat olives but my husband doesn't! Would love to cook something that he might try - and wow friends at dinner parties - also my kids love olives too!

oenophilia · 10/06/2015 12:28

Yes I can work from home come next Wednesday. Sounds good!

AnnMumsnet · 10/06/2015 12:41

The team at Olive it! wanted to say "Olive it! regularly take their campaign nationwide. Keep an eye on the Olive it! social channels and your local media for competition opportunities to attend events across the UK"
