We are working with the team at Osper to find 10 MNers who are able to attend a workshop in London on Monday 16th February with their children (and their children's friends if applicable/ able) aged 8 to 18. The session will run from 2-4pm.

Osper is a company offering a prepaid Debit Card for under 18's with a mobile banking app for the family.

They say "The Osper Prepaid Debit Card is designed to safely introduce young people, aged 8 - 18, to making their own decisions with money: online, in shops, at cash machines and abroad. For parents your Osper App gives you a simple and safe way to give young people an opportunity to manage their own spending and saving."

You can see Davina McCall giving her personal opinion of Osper here:

They'd like to work with attending MNers and their families to get feedback on general attitudes to money and children - when kids feel they are ready to manage their own money, how it is given to them etc. The workshop could include group games and exercises such as trying out the product and brainstorming suggestions that might make it better, as well as separate one on one interviews with kids and parents. The findings from the workshop will help to guide Osper in creating their product.

The session will be held in central London and will last about 2 hours. It's going to be very informal with an emphasis on fun and creativity.

We're looking for MNers who can attend with one or more children aged 8 to 18 - unfortunately younger children cannot attend.

Please note, photos and video may be taken during the workshop - these may be used on forthcoming pages on MN as well as by Osper elsewhere, including on social media. The workshop will also be recorded and the comments made used by Osper in marketing materials. Please only apply if you're happy for your images and comment to be used like this.

After the session, we'd like attendees to share their thoughts and experiences on the day on a thread on MN. This thread will also feature a prize draw for non-attenders with a chance to win a prize from Osper.

As a thank you each MNer who attends the session and adds feedback will be sent a £75 Amazon voucher. No travel costs will be paid.

If you're able and willing to attend the workshop please add your details here

We will be in touch with selected MNers by 9 February.

Standard Insight T&CS apply. Any questions please ask on this thread.

Sorry emmelinelucas - we do try and offer opportunities in other areas too (like we did for the Annie screenings in December) - we hope there will be other projects for Osper following this one.

@Eastpoint

I really don't understand the point of this - from 11 a child can have a debit card anyway on their account & that doesn't cost anything, nor can they go overdrawn.

from Osper: "Hi Eastpoint, the Osper offering is really aimed at trying to encourage young people to take responsibility of their own finances and is designed specially for children and parents. Features such as the ability to lock and unlock the card and requesting PIN reminders are not features available on standard bank accounts for children. Parents also have the ability to turn online spending off and on".

@Theimpossiblegirl

Mentioned this to DD and she wants to know if it's £75 per family or per child and can she bring a friend. She is very money savvy, more so than me sometimes! She'll go far. :)

£75 per family/ MNer! (Smile)
