Speedo is looking for 15 Mumsnetters and their children to attend the 'Underwater World' VIP day in South Kensington on Tuesday 29th October.

Here's what Speedo have to say, "After new research revealed that 81% of kids wished they could go swimming more often and that a third would rather get a new badge for swimming than be able to ride a bike without stabilisers, Speedo wanted to celebrate this by hosting a unique Underwater World event for kids and parents."

The pool will be transformed into an underwater world experience for Mumsnetters and their children to explore. The day will also include a swimming lesson from an Olympic swimmer, which will cater to all swimming capabilities and a Q&A session with the Olympic swimmer to answer your queries on teaching your child to swim. But don't worry, there will be lots of free time for you and your DCs to have fun splashing about by yourselves and with other Mumsnetters as well.

The day will take place on Tuesday 29th October and will run as follows:
11:00 Arrive
11:15 Welcome performance
11:30 Swimming lesson and games
12:30 One on one Q&A with an Olympic swimmer – ask for expert tips and advice on how to teach your children to swim
13:00 Lunch
13:00-16:00 Free time in the pool

Everyone who attends the day will receive a goodie bag as a thank you.

Those of you who are selected to attend the day will be required to come back to a thread on MN to share your experiences and answer a few questions.

This event is open to all Mumsnetters with at least one child under the age of 16. We're also interested in knowing if anyone who applies has a blog and can blog about it (please tick the relevant box on the sign up form if so).

If you'd like to attend please sign up here.

Thanks and happy swimming,

MNHQ

We've been selected Thanks but I'm actually a bit worried about the logistics with a 3, 5 and 8 yr old and no dh!

I'm just wondering what sort of pool it is...given that it's at UCL, does that mean it doesn't really have a shallow end? Just trying to figure out whether this is going to be feasible with a 3yo who can't swim, a 5yo who can swim but only learnt fairly recently and a reasonably good 8yo?

Can you help please MN? Is there really no room for partners to sit on the side and look after smaller children if needed?

Hello I got selected too, very exciting!

What do you think happens at the beginning? It says get changed but then I think there's a talk or something? Will we be hanging around in our cossies on land? Eek!

I am coming with a helper as am disabled, so she can step in to carry on w ds if I flake out. Does mean if anyone's desperate for an extra hand, I can offer my lovely helper to fish out any straying children!

Am excited, I've never met any mumsnetters before so will be nice to meet people too

I feel your horror and times it by two! (faaaat!).

They just sent an email saying we need flip flops... So it looks like poolside nakedness. I think I'll wear an old dress on top to maintain some coverage.

Ooh that's a good idea! I'll have a swimsuit on ready underneath so could just put flip flops on and saunter into the intro bit, retreating to change after...

I will see what everyone else is doing I guess, but either will be fully dressed w flip flops OR in swimming cossie but with dress & long cardi on over. Though I suspect will be hot in there so cardi might be overkill!

Am v excited to meet other people and do the swimming thing... But am v nervous as I'm disabled and in this situation I can't cover it up as its all quite physical & I hope I'll still look approachable / up for a chat through the pain / heat/ stress won't make me look not nice to talk to! (quite recently disabled so not used to all this stuff)

Thanks so much for the offers of help...if it was me doing it, I'd completely take you up on it (and am quite :( to be missing out) but since it is DH, I don't think its fair to bully him into spending his day off doing something he doesn't feel comfortable taking on with the dcs on his own.

He's decided to take them to the local lido instead, so they're still going to get their swimming (just not the goody bags :( :( ) and he's got his ds coming to give him a hand.

Have a fantastic day tomorrow Envy
