Going gluten-free can be a challenge, especially when it comes to budgeting. For those of you who are gluten-free, what would your top tips be? What are your favourite gluten-free products? How do you stick to a budget on a gluten-free diet?

And if you’re just starting or even have been following a gluten-free diet for a while what questions or concerns do you have? Becky Excell, author of new book Budget Gluten Free will be online in the next few weeks to answer some of your questions.

Everyone who posts on this thread by 18 March will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky winner will win a £200 voucher plus a signed copy of Budget Gluten Free by Becky Excell. 9 runners up will also win a signed copy of the book.

*Don't forget to also take part in the poll below about the cost of a gluten-free weekly shop (according to Coeliac cost of living report 2024) - the answer will be revealed on this thread next week!

So we tried the macaroni bolognaise recipe from the book yesterday and it was really nice. We used Quorn mince but if you're not vegi it would be nice with real mince. What I like about the recipes is they look like they can be adapted for meat eaters or vegetarians quite easily.

My coeliac daughter is off to uni in Sept and will be taking this book with her!

Just received my copy today and looking forward to trying some of the breadier recipes (naans, scones, pizza bases etc.) as those are some of the things I find hardest to get right and the recipes don't look too fussy. Also looking forward to the improvements in my biceps from hoisting the thing about — it's a solid chunk of book Grin

Our Teen and I have found endless useful recipes in this book, more than any other books in our large collection of general cookery books. It looks our most useful collection ever of easy and filling and inviting things as so often we'd get stuck for things to her eat . (We don't have an air fryer for that section but even those recipes can be adapted anyway ).
Does anyone else want to work through the entire book with us 😃. DD is sometimes fussy but I don't see a single recipe yet that she won't like

I just made the emergency pan sandwich ham and cheese version - it is so easy this is an absolute game changer as so often we get stuck ! Brilliant for a picnic / packed lunch too .

Saw some copies displayed in Sainsbury's today, near the checkouts. Slightly surprised me TBH — I'd kind of thought that GF was receding back into the "specialist diets for specific disorders" category, and that those of us still eating that way for medical reasons might not be large enough numbers for supermarkets to think it's worth promoting a GF cookbook, but looks like I'm wrong. Hope it does well.

That is encouraging in a way as it is good that life seems to be getting easier for anyone on a GF diet as the number of products on offer has also grown a lot over the many years we've had to cut out gluten. I keep using this book as find the recipes quick and easy and yummy eg the wraps beat several more laborious recipes I found online and found much more effort to enjoy doing .
Today we are having pizza muffins that took me a couple of minutes to mix so another recipe I'll use many times . I didn't have garlic infused oil and it didn't seem to mind as I put a clove of chopped garlic in . I forgot I had basil in the fridge as think that would have been quite nice on top ! My presentation isn't my forte but they have all disappeared fast!
