Always love doing the big wheel ~ DS has been let on free although not being ‘young enough’ 2 years running!

Cant do a WW trip without churros either 😋

Elster1999 · 06/11/2024 11:20

I love Ice Mountain followed by hot chocolate and churros!

ketchuporbrownsauce · 06/11/2024 15:54

100% the ice skating, under the festive lights - just the best (as long as the stewards keep others from weaving and speeding) then some street food, and a ride on the star flyer.

ingkir · 06/11/2024 16:13

It's the first year my kids are old enough to understand Christmas so they are very excited about meeting Santa

SkylarH · 06/11/2024 16:14

Always my first mulled wine of the year!

Gazelda · 06/11/2024 16:27

It's a shame that WW have introduced a new disability access system which is creating barriers that prevents some people I know from being able to visit.

They've been many times in the past and loved every second. But won't be able to visit this year.

Personally, it's the hot chocolate and festive vibe that puts me in the Christmas mood.

Another vote for the big wheel - love this, its slow enough for me and high enough to see so much - and you can really soak in the atmosphere. We are thinking of buying a Santaland Unlimited Ride Pass for the rides too.

Angiemum24 · 07/11/2024 12:53

I love a look around diffrent stalls with a posh hot chocolate.

youareonlyhereonce · 08/11/2024 08:28

We go there primarily for the ice skating - but check the weather forecast first - a cold clear day is the best - a close second is the big wheel,

HobNobAddict · 08/11/2024 11:00

We are looking forward to the real ice slide !

Montydoo · 08/11/2024 11:46

Cirque Berserk for us ! 45 minutes of thrills.

SisterAgatha · 08/11/2024 12:49

I actually (foolishly) just checked online to see about visiting winter wonderland this year, as after the first few years I had dismissed it as being commercialised and for tourists. This thread made me think ah maybe it will be nice to try again.

I see that its no longer free entry (£25 minimum spend) unless you go on select weekdays at 10am or Boxing Day, which we could do - but not at 10am.

So the attraction I miss most is free entry.

DanBenandBud · 09/11/2024 14:04

It's not Christmas for us without going ice skating outdoors - with the atmosphere and sounds and smells of Christmas.

itsywitsy · 09/11/2024 14:15

Weather and queue permitting the giant wheel !

Anicecumberlandsausage · 09/11/2024 14:33

It used to be good but now it's so expensive I no longer bother going.

There are usually fairs and Christmas markets dotted around London (centrally and in the outer boroughs) that are as good but a bit cheaper. Also, free entry.

Skating is a much nicer experience at Somerset House anyway.

I'm not going to get the prize money, but I'll just say Do Your Research.

Bearsinmotion · 09/11/2024 14:38

DD is doing her ice skating grades so the ice rink for her. Ice slide for DS, mulled wine for me!

WontBeLong · 09/11/2024 19:44

Go every year and used to be free to go in.in my 70's now so given up on the rides but love the atmosphere and watching my daughter and granddaughter going on the rides.its a tradition for us now.

Lovetoread123 · 09/11/2024 19:55

Definitely the ice skating!

hockeysticks89 · 09/11/2024 20:11

We go in as soon as it opens to get in the big rides easily. They're exceptional. the best bit for me was where an entertainer lady was singing on a podium and everyone was joining in and the atmosphere was amazing .

Dizzywizz · 10/11/2024 16:45

I love the Christmas market! It’s definitely the best bit!

Squiggles23 · 10/11/2024 17:21

I’m taking a teen I mentor and she’s very excited about all the rides!

My personal favourite from previous years is the bar which is a carousel. Christmas tunes in the background and is there anywhere better for a gluhwein or hot choc!

SarahLHs · 10/11/2024 17:22

My daughter loved the circus and the rides last year. I would love to take both of my children now that my youngest is a bit older.

214 · 10/11/2024 19:58

We really enjoyed the Ice Trail around Lincoln last year with all the lights twinkling as the evening fell, all the shops up Steep Hill and around Bailgate were very focused on Christmas and the atmosphere was really lovely.

AnotherDayAnotherOutfit · 10/11/2024 20:08

Favourite thing every year is a chap who runs the game where you have to climb a rope ladder that wobbles and ring a bell at the top. DD had her 1st try age 5 and has been back every year for the past 10, never managed to ring the bell though. We also love the ice skating and the Bavarian village. Wouldn't be Christmas for us without a visit to Winter Wonderland 🎄🎅🏼🤶🏼

Element4056 · 11/11/2024 09:00

We love a stroll around the different markets with a nice hot chocolate to keep us toasty! Little ones are 2 and 3 now and love all the lights illuminating and the different colours. Can't wait to take them this year.
