Love giving my baby a bath and short massage afterwards to help relax her. I use a natural oil for her massage which helps to keep her skin soft and in good condition.

Definitely making sure all skin is dried well before dressing

For eczema, our doctor advised less baths. We went down to two a week and it all cleared up.

DD had very dry skin as a baby. Once we stopped bathing her so often it cleared up. A couple of times a week was plenty for her as a baby. We used a emollient as a soap substitute, it did make her very slippery in the bath though.

I agree that babies with dry skin can often do better when not bathed every day, especially when they are very little and don't tend to get very dirty. Emollients can make babies (and baths) very slippery - perhaps try one of the Aveeno baby bath products which also provide moisturising benefits.

Oat baths! Once a month, get a sock, fill with oats, tie it over your tap and let the water run through. This is excellent for your babies skin and also great for eczema prone skin. Follow with Aveeno lotion lotion.

Great idea - oats have been used in skincare for thousands of years, and using oats in a sock is a tried and trusted way to get some oat benefits. An easier way to get 100% oat in the bath (plus some extra moisturising ingredients) is to use Aveeno baby Soothing Bath Soak.

water is fine for the first few months no products needed.

Babies don't get too mucky in the early months, so water can be fine for bathing. Remember though that water cannot remove greasy substances, so maybe keep a mild baby bath product on hand, should it ever be needed.

we bathed our daughter every evening before bed it was part of her routine and she loved it ! she’s always loved water so we continued to do so, bedtime baby bubbles and lotion for massage after bottle and then fast asleep for 8/10 hours every night ❤️🌟

This is so great that your routine works so well - we often recommend bath, massage, feed/quiet time, as the perfect way to help settle babies to sleep and this routine has clinically proven results, to help babies settle more quickly and to stay asleep for longer. For those babies who are sometimes less settled at bedtimes - check out the tips on the Aveeno website.

Epaderm or
Cetrabren

Aveeno or Dexyrl sink in faster

Pat in the cream head to toe and leave it to sink in, do not rub as this increases friction, at least twice a day

Sudocrem after every nappy change - nappy rash is terrible and this will really help prevent it happening

Absolutely right - barrier creams are a great help in preventing nappy rash, and anyone who has had a baby with nappy rash will know how important this can be. Nappy rash can be more common during periods of illness or teething or weaning, so it's essential to have a good barrier cream on hand especially at these times.

Consistency and routine- then they know what happens and will be happy about it

I completely agree - I am now usually a great one for routines, but found simple clear routines essential for keeping my baby, and therefore me, happy. Especially during times of changes, even nice change like holidays, keeping to a routine as much as possible makes life easier and therefore happier for everyone. And simple three step bedtime routines (bath, massage, quiet time) has been clinically proven to help babies fall asleep faster and stay asleep for longer - try the Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort range for a lovely bedtime scent.

I'm probably repeating what others have said but I'd say plain water for young babies and they don't need bathed often. As they get a bit older and enjoy the bath, a bath seat is great so you have hands free and we'd sing lots of songs and play in the bath so it was nice, fun bonding time. I used aveeno baby wash and in fact my teen still uses it as likes the subtle smell!

Yes, these are all great tips and favourites with our mums here. Thanks for writing in.

We've had loads of skin issues. My top tips:
Eczema - bathe less, use oats in a pair of tights to make a Milky bath. Use a little bit of emollient rather than just water.
Use no fabric conditioner but instead 2 tablespoons of white vinegar.

Nappy rash/ extreme dry skin/reactive allergic skin - use Bepanthen nappy cream. Azong stuff. I use it on my hands when react to washing up liquid.

Skin issues can be really draining can't they but you seem to have found just what works for you and your family! Oats in the bath can be really helpful and the Aveeno Baby range has oats at the heart of its formulations of bath products and moisturisers, specially made for baby skin. And the white vinegar idea is brilliant, I am going to try that in my next sheets and towels wash:)

My toddler loves bath time, we make it fun. We've always used Aveeno because she's got eczema, and obviously we had to work moisturising sessions into our routine. We pop music on n have a little dance n lotion party, she loves it cos its fun (but also practical for me)

It's such a good idea to make it fun for your baby and, as you say, easier for you. Other ideas to actually get moisturiser on a toddler includes dotting moisturiser on them and asking them to join the dots, or even drawing simple pictures with the moisturiser - such as a sun, or rainbow. But I think dance'n'lotion should definitely become a thing!

You are on to a winner here - a simple three step bedtime routine (bath, massage, quiet time) has actually been clinically proven to help babies and children fall asleep faster and stay asleep for longer.

For eczema, our doctor advised less baths. We went down to two a week and it all cleared up.

Another great idea - babies don't really need bathing every day, and if their skin is particularly dry and sensitive, cutting down on baths can really help.

We literally used nothing on our babies' skin until they were a few months old. Always had rubber ducks, and various bath toys in the bath.
Occasionally had to use wipes for nappy changes but mostly before they weaned it was just water.
Once they were older, we added squirts of baby bubble baths to bath water.
Happily neither of ours have sensitive or dry skin so we've never needed to use moisturiser.
