Created for Culturelle

We know that our lifestyle and diet have an impact on our overall health and digestion, with energy levels, bloating and even skin irritation all connected to gut health. With this in mind we’d like to know what changes, big or small you’ve made to your overall health, to support your gut health?

  • Post your experiences in the thread below to be entered into a prize draw.
  • One lucky winner will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice.

Here’s what Culturelle has to say:
‘At Culturelle we believe that talking about the gut is still a stigmatized health issue around the world, and by opening up new conversations we can help people understand more about their bodies, the science and what we can all do to support the core of our health’

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Eating a plant based diet and including fermented foods such as kimchi.

lljkk · 25/04/2023 22:28

nothing. I had no evidence that it wasn't already good.

Sleepybumble · 26/04/2023 07:38

I don't eat much wheat anymore. I've found I feel much better for it. Less bloating, less tired and my bowels are much more regular

thimblewomgee247 · 27/04/2023 19:09

Loads of water first thing in the morning. Huge difference

Citygirlrurallife · 09/05/2023 00:41

Been mentioned already but vegan diet, I eat kimchi daily, put bicarbonate of soda in the water when I cook my beans, and try to drink lots of water

As part of an overall lifestyle overhaul I've all but given up processed sugar and totally cut out alcohol. I also drink loads of water now, at least 2l a day, and it definitely seems to help.

DasAlteLeid · 13/05/2023 17:02

Intermittent fasting has hugely decreased my bloating and gas, especially when I have nothing but water until lunchtime.

humblemeep · 17/05/2023 13:33

I try to drink more water, usually with a slice of lemon in it, as I don't like the smell of tap water. I also take probiotics. I add mixed seeds to my porridge in the morning, I think it's flax seed, sunflower, pumpkin.

I've got chronic gut health but I'm trying to take control of it. I start the day with lemon in hot water and then porridge with added fibre - chia seeds and flax seeds and some fruit. The rest of the day can go either way but if I'm having a focused day , I will avoid gluten, drink lots of water and aim for lots of fruit and veggies including cruciferous veg before dinner. My number one tip , which is great I'm writing it down - perhaps I'll actually do it, is DRINK MORE WATER. I think 99% of my health problems could probably be solved by drinking more water.

Trying to avoid ultra processed foods, range of fruit & vegetables. Plenty of yogurt & fermented foods.

TrustPenguins · 27/06/2023 14:11

Eat a healthy & varied diet
Lots of fruit & veg, dairy, protein
Minimal sugar and processed food

Morag273 · 27/06/2023 14:24

Actively avoiding ultra processed foods; stop buying products containing preservatives and emulsifiers. An easy one is bread/wraps - have been making my own flatbreads with flour, water, oil and salt. Takes 5 minutes and taste delicious!

sheilads105 · 29/06/2023 13:11

I am eating more raw fruit and vegetables. This helps with digestion. Being active also promotes gut helth

So many gut health products seem to be based around dairy yogurts. However, my digestive system and skin are so much better when I don't have any dairy products in my diet.
