Not one of my kids, but my nephew, who I had to collect from nursery when my sister had an emergency. It hadn't been arranged in advance, so the nursery teacher asked him to look out at the cloakroom where I was waiting and identify me. Fortunately I was close enough to hear him say loudly, "I have never seen that person before in my life!" He thought it was hilarious; me, not so much. He's 29 now and I'm still waiting for an opportunity to get him back. In a restaurant when he's expecting me to pick up the bill, I'm thinking.

So much drama and tears. I was so stressed out by the thought of leaving my DD somewhere she was unhappy. DH decided he would change things around and do drop offs, she never cried ever. He’s busy for a day, I do drop off. DRAMA.

BTW parenting hell is my fave podcast!

I really enjoy it but it definitely isn't new, as the opening post suggests!
It started in 2020.
The 'new' part refers to it now becoming exclusive to Spotify but the podcast remains the same.

Trying to get my DS2 not to say photographs .......................................................... pronounced fu@ck-ofaces 😅 he did not know what he was saying - and could not pronounce it for such a long time - but LOVED the word

HobNobAddict · 29/11/2022 09:37

That Podcast is HILARIOUS - and sooo resonates with me 😅

DS1 told his teacher - that DH used to be a woman (he didn't) and I was given leaflets on how to explain trans to a young child - (never told DH 😂)

DS1 is now in year 6 and I am sure most of the staff are still not sure

Trying to persuade DS2 that wearing his spiderman outfit for school is not a good idea - with tears running down his face ! -plus going to the toilet would have been a nightmare

Love their podcast, it’s the only one I listen to religiously!
My drop off story isn’t that funny- just typical of kids. My eldest was sobbing every day when going into school- it was so stressful doing the morning routine at home and not knowing when she was going to start crying or if she’d go in happily or not today. Eventually made an appointment with the teacher and asked whether she was ok in school once she was there and were there any concerns. Turns out she literally stopped crying the MINUTE she walked through the door and then was absolutely fine all day. Took less than a week of a sticker chart for going into school happily for her to break the habit! A relief but also can’t believe she got me that worried!

Youngest child (five at the time) got so engrossed watching telly that they left it far too late to get to the toilet in time. I was getting ready to go out for the first time since all the restrictions had lifted and DH was late from work. Instead of the relaxed 20 minutes I had envisaged to get dressed and stick some slap on, I ended up cleaning up a child that had tried to catch their own turd. There was shit up the walls, on the floor, around the toilet seat, up their legs, on their hands etc etc. DH came home to an enraged wife and quite a scene. Bloody children.

AudTheDeepMinded · 03/12/2022 13:20

Same child was also politely banned from the school Christmas carol concert. this was because every time ''Away in a manger' was sung they would sob uncontrollably and upset all the other children. Basically, the whole class would end up crying hysterically. This was all because 'the baby didn't have a bed Mummy'. I think he is an empath.

@mnhq @MaddyMumsnet who won this?

ClaraSais · 03/12/2022 19:55

The most cringey thing for me was when I took my stroppy 3 year old to preschool and he accidently pulled my skirt down! Luckily no one noticed (I hope!)

TheClitterati · 05/12/2022 12:55

that time when 2yo DD2 had an epic tantrum on the London Eye - all the way round. She wasn't frightened - I don't think she even knew we were in a pod - she just had epic tantrums from time to time. I'm so sorry for the other prisioners in that pod with her that day.

As a working Mum with my partner doing school drop off & childminder collecting her. I didn't know many of DD1's friends or their parents. We went to a Saturday afternoon party of one of her school friends. It seemed a bit weird that DD clung to me and didn't go and play with her friends/the other children. After 15 minutes I realised we were at the wrong party. I sideled up to the gift table, sheepishly reclaimed our gift and set off to the right 5yo birthday party in a similarly named hall on the very same road.
