Balancing staying healthy with the demands of busy work and family life can be tough. With that in mind, Premier Global NASM - who offer training courses, supported by their unique 'live learning through digital technology' methodology, in fitness, personal training and nutrition - would like to hear your tips for nutrition and staying healthy.

Here’s what Premier Global NASM has to say: “Our Certified Nutrition Coach programme was created in response to the need for scientifically proven and validated nutrition information. Our aim is to empower as many people as possible with the right nutritional information suited to them – as opposed to following the latest celebrity diet trend.

Combining this need with a holistic approach that takes into consideration clients’ various fitness levels, backgrounds, religions, and other circumstances, ensures our Nutrition Certification, unlike others in the market, isn’t just a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

We spent years developing the most comprehensive Nutrition Certification available today, working with over 20 experts in the fields of nutrition, metabolism, physiology, psychology, behaviour sciences, and more to create and validate every aspect of the course.”

Do you make sure you have healthy snacks like fruit or nuts on your desk at work to prevent the call of the shared biscuits? What are your go-to ‘emergency snacks’ for when hunger or hanger strikes away from meal time? If you’ve experienced pregnancy cravings, how have you managed these while ensuring you get the nutrients you need?

Whatever your tips for nutrition and staying healthy below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list) as well as the Premier Global NASM Certified Nutrition Coach programme (worth £749).

Thanks and good luck!

Much of the time our thirst signals are confused with hunger signals. The key is not food but liquid - I make sure I always have a bottle of water on my desk. If I feel a bit hungry I drink the bottle (500-750ml). If i am still hungry half an hour later I snack on something high protein (nut or a cold boiled egg). In the colder weather I drink pints of black tea / herbal tea.

I try not to snack but when hunger does strike instead of going for the usual chocolate or crisps I'm trying to have fruit or a yoghurt.
I'm definitely feeling better for it 🙂

I am trying to eat nutritionally dense foods, so veg and protein for snacks rather than traditional snack foods like crisps, chocolate.
I try to have at least one of my 5 a day at breakfast, with protein, so usually fruit and yogurt, but sometimes tomatoes or mushrooms with eggs.

Learning about the importance of fibre has been a game changer for me. I've been trying to eat the recommended 30g of fibre a day (gradually building it up) and by doing so through various sources - lots of fruit and veg, nuts and seeds, swapping to wholegrains etc it has made me feel fuller than usual (so less snacking and sweet treats) and I've automatically ended up eating way more fruit and veg than normal. I've also found that going cold turkey with chocolates (or switching to very dark chocolate) has really helped reduce my sweet tooth. It's so hard for the first couple of days but then I find I'm not craving sweet things so much.

I rely on fizzy water to keep me full throughout the day! I also love 50 cal jelly pots, ideal for my sweet tooth craving

MadamElderfield · 19/03/2021 15:38

I think it's important to have three balanced meals. Skipping breakfast or not having enough lunch just makes you snack more!

MummyBtothree · 31/03/2021 20:27

Making sure there are plenty of healthy snacks at home that are handy to grab

queenoftheschoolrun · 02/04/2021 22:09

I try to avoid snacking on a regular basis. If you eat balanced meals throughout the day you shouldn’t need to snack as well.

Cooking from scratch saves so many unnecessary additives, calories, sugar and fat. Making a sandwich instead of buying one can save you so many calories, sugar and salt to let you have your homemade sandwich and a cereal bar instead of just the shop bought sandwich. Everything in moderation is the key!

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 06/04/2021 09:58

Everything in moderation has always been my motto! But when someone politely shares the Hob Nobs around at work, i politely decline and stick to something a little less guilty! Doing that every day can make such a difference.
I snack on nuts, fruit, cereal type bars if i get a sudden pang of hunger.
