Whether Christmas Eve in your household is the calm before the storm or the storm before the calm, it can be a great day to just spend some quality time with family and/or friends. Christmas Eve is celebrated in a whole host of different ways, with traditions varying from going for a long walk, to having chinese takeaway for dinner, to even guessing what the presents around the tree are. With that being said McDonalds would love to hear what you and your household gets up to on Christmas Eve.

Here’s what McDonald's has to say: "“We know it’s a hectic time of year for families, so if it’s a quick coffee when you’re out shopping or popping in on Christmas Eve for some free Reindeer Treat carrots, we are here to help you get #ReindeerReady on your way to Christmas 2018!”

Is Christmas Eve a time where you stay in your Xmas pj’s all day and watch films? Perhaps you like to go to you the pub with friends and family? What about going for a winter walk around your local park? Are you still prepping the presents and dinner for Christmas day? Do you and your family host an annual Christmas Eve party? Or maybe you have a traditional Christmas Eve breakfast, lunch and dinner that you look forward to all year round?

Whatever you and your family gets up to on Christmas Eve share it on the thread below and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

All up early to start getting goodies out and prepping all the meat and veg. Wife and kids then take part in the village fun run before we go for a couple of drinks at the local. Kids eventually will get packed off to bed and we can then start putting all the presents out. Exhausting day !.

sheilads105 · 26/11/2018 08:57

Lots of lists and lots of delegation!

gmaisey · 26/11/2018 08:57

We're going round the in laws for tea and to celebrate my sister in laws birthday also.

chloe282 · 26/11/2018 08:58

We have a relaxing family day at home with christmas films & a nice buffet tea, then we all put on our christmas pyjamas & make a hot chocolate before going to bed.

Helenge · 26/11/2018 08:59

Nice easy christmas film and then bath before the next day. (Because no one has time to wash their hair on christmas morning!)

Bed early so the day comes faster !

xcxcsophiexcxc · 26/11/2018 08:59

Christmas eve I usually dash around trying to get those last few presents and I begin the wrapping haha

GhostSauce · 26/11/2018 09:06

nigelh66 · 26/11/2018 09:18

Just watch the Christmas Eve TV schedule :)

topsy73 · 26/11/2018 09:18

by not leaving it to the last minute. Also by not getting stressed and making the event something bigger than it actually is!

topsy73 · 26/11/2018 09:20

we usually do a family activity in the morning and then we go to our village church for the nativity service!

Quietvoiceplease · 26/11/2018 09:28

It's usually a busy morning of final jobs, and then a leisurely lunch out for all us. We then go the 4pm crib service at church, followed by home for some homemade soup for tea in front of a film (with plenty of chocolates to eat). Its become our ritual and we love it. I will sneak out late evening for the Midnight carol service which is such a joyous way to see in Christmas morning. The children (even the teenagers)make sure that snacks have been left out for Santa before bed. Probably one of the loveliest days of the year for us.

frankywds · 26/11/2018 09:37

i like a nice easy meal, as will be cooking all day next day

Lindseymorris29 · 26/11/2018 09:40

The elves leave a goodbye gift sweets, movie and pjs for the christmas eve night. We make cookies/cakes for Santa. The children are a bundle of excitement which I absolutely revel in. Got to have the house spic and span ready for the chaos! Love it!!!

Elizasmum02 · 26/11/2018 09:41

We have a junk food buffet, watch christmas dvds and read books

valpal1972 · 26/11/2018 09:53

We enjoy a nice meal and watch a Christmas movie together. We play board games or work on a 1000 piece puzzle. We have hot cocoa and cookies. We also feed the reindeers and leave a drink out for Santa with a mince pie. Leave a key outside so Santa can come in. Throw fairy dust so the reindeers can find our home

glenka · 26/11/2018 09:54

we like to play board games as a family

Sparklepants3 · 26/11/2018 09:59

We get all snug on the sofa and have a family and friends evening. Watching movies, drinking hot chocolate and eating popcorn!

katkatgu · 26/11/2018 10:03

Christmas movies, mulled wine and mince pies!

footdust · 26/11/2018 10:10

Lists, lists and more lists! Food shopping, meal planning, present buying, wish lists for relatives to buy presents from, Christmas card recipients to name but a few!

julie2910 · 26/11/2018 10:19

wow are we really at that time of year again!!! where has the time gone. Well on xmas eve...I will be working.
But in the evening, we will probably eat lefovers so that nothing goes to waste and room will be made in the fridge for more items...a trip to mcdonalds is always necessary and usually to the drive thru because I'm usually settled in my fleecy onesie or pyjamas by 6pm..but we do need our milkshakes and mcflurries.
Then home for hot chocolate and cookies dipped in of course...then an old film, on the telly.
Btw I don't celebrate xmas...but it doesnt stop me from enjoying myself..

janeyf1 · 26/11/2018 10:20

Mostly prep for the big day ahead but we have a nice drink together and a mince pie to get in the Christmas spirit

phillie1 · 26/11/2018 10:28

Cuddle up on sofa with hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows to watch Miracle on 34th street and then to midnight mass, preceded by carols

hdh747 · 26/11/2018 10:28

Get outside during the day for some fresh air then watch xmas movies in the evening.

phillie1 · 26/11/2018 10:30

Get as much done as you can early and learn to delegate!

Blainalass · 26/11/2018 10:30

Unchristmassy food, usually fish and chips, but otherwise quiet and very Christmassy - final touches to the tree, mince pie and sherry for FC, etc.
